You are misinterpreting the information. It says your warranty cannot be voided if you do your own maintenance properly and per the requirements of the manufacturer. See my post above.
There are instances where the manufacturer may elect certified third party mechanics to diagnose and provide warranty work. Usually in rural areas where dealer radius is limited.

My understanding is that they undergo a similar certification process as the dealer mechanics, and are subject to the same rules/stipulations for warranty/payment authorizations.

The reason I’ve been concerned with this subject is I’m in a similar situation as the OP, that’s why I’ve already been studying this (Warranty Work.) I’m looking at buying either a Honda or Subaru and the 2 dealers closest to me is 1 and 2 hours away. I know it’s not the same problem he has but it still involves warranty work. So I contacted the dealer earlier today to ask them directly about this and here’s what their reply was. It isn’t free, but for any major work that might cost a lot, there is an alternative for those of us that live hours away from a dealer. Just to drive to any major town is 25 minutes away for me.

Re: Randy, a message from Vivian

No as part of the warranty program you can go to a certified mechanic and you would just pay a $200 deductible.

SUBJECT: Re: Randy, a message from Vivian

I have a question for you. I live 2 hours from the twin cities. What would happen if I need my car fixed under warranty work. Would I need to get my car to a Honda dealer to get it fixed?

If it were me, I'd ask for the name of the certified shop nearest you. And then confirm the relationship through Honda Customer Relations before taking the plunge.

He could just as easily be talking about an extended warranty program.

Actually I never saw the paper work for the extended warranty as it was purchased over the phone. The dealer is a 2.5 hour drive from my house and the other nearest one is a 6 hour drive, that's why I'm done with Honda. Should have known they would pull a fast one on me because when I first got the car I had a lot of issues with the info system. I kept rebooting it but the various problems kept coming back. I explained to them the problems they said to bring it in to get the system changed. The problem came back, brought it back 3 times and every time they said they changed it. It was still not working properly so the fourth time I brought it back I was not very happy they changed it again and it has been working fine ever since. I know they never changed the info system the first 3 times because when they finally changed it my xm radio stopped working and had to contact xm because the radio code had changed.
Every time I go to the service dept. there is always someone new working there it might be why the service is getting worst.
The worst thing is that today my wife told me she is taking over my truck and that we should trade the civic for a rav4 to give to my daughter next year, so in a year I will have no vehicle. My daughter was supposed to get the civic, my wife purchase a rav4 and I keep my truck, but in trading in the civic we will have payments for the rav4 and truck so getting another vehicle for my wife would add an extra payment. I'll wait until I get the car back to decide what to do.
On a side note Honda is paying a rental until the civic gets fixed, I got a 2019 Chevy Cruze and the civic a much nicer car to drive.
I hesitate to write this... and i hate to sound like a dick... but after reading this all I can think is Victim Mentality

Honda Canada e-mailed the dealer today to get the diagnostic papers we'll see where that leads. I can't believe they sent me a satisfaction survey for the service I received usually they call the next day but not this time. I have to decide if I will trade it for the new rav4, it's too bad because I like the crv, the only Honda I will have left is my ATV.

I don't know about Canada, but I'm sure in the US anything like this in a vehicle purchase contract would not be enforceable.

There is a "food libel law" which allows the sellers/producers of perishable foods to sue anyone disparaging their stuff.

But you can badmouth the vehicle you bought or even the whole brand to your heart's desire.

I've had a honda vehicle in my driveway since 1984, needless to say I've owned several honda cars. Today I've decided to never buy another because of the dealer, the other dealers are too far away even this one is a 2.5 hour drive from here. My car is at the dealer for multiple problems they told me that i had so many codes that they had some trouble to diagnose ( it's a 2016 civic touring).
The problem that pissed me off is that the motor in the driver's seat is not working well and making a lot of noise. I called the dealer before the warranty was over, told them about it and asked for them to put it in the system so that it will be covered, they said ok. I work all week and can't make it to the dealer often. I also have the 4 year extended warranty on the car. I brought it in for the recall and told them to check the seat which they never did. Today it was towed for the second time in a month, and I told them to check the seat again. They told me the motor of the seat has to be replaced and you have to change the whole seat because it's not sold seperately. The cost to me was $1400.00 because the warranty was over, I explained to them that I had called them during the warranty period and they told me that that doesn't count because they have to diagnose it themselves, so why did they not tell me that when I called, they had no answer, also why does the extended warranty I took doesn't cover it. It seems the extended warranty is totally useless. They actually told me that the extended warranty is covering the work that is being done on it now, they are changing the injectors and other stuff in the engine but that to me is powertrain stuff and is covered 5 years with the original warranty.
I contacted the honda main office to complain, they opened a file and e-mailed me asking me to send them the diagnosis from the dealer, the dealer doesn't want to give me the diagnosis paper, they said that they have to send it themselves. I e-mailed honda canada back and explained to them that I can't get the diagnosis, now I'm waiting to see what happens.
That really sucks, sorry to hear you got a losed dealership 'ne

Sorry, that really sucks. All Honda Dealerships are not created equal. So far, on my '17 SI Right Honda Scottsdale has actually been better than expected: 1. Tested and changed out a battery that was not up to spec at no charge, when all I did was go in for an oil change. 2. 30,000 miles and the only issue so far was minor - the left front brake caliper was slightly off spec and caused a noise. Which was fixed. 3. Some careless person knocked my left side mirror cover off while I had it parked outside a barbecue joint, the dealer fixed it at no charge, right away. Clearly they didn't have to, this was not a warranty issue.

Before you give up on Honda, if there is another dealer, even if it is pack a lunch and dinner distance, you may want to try that route. Also, there are worse companies - much worse - out there. I have had a way better ownership experience than when we had a KIA. Electrical system went out on the Sportage, car would die for no apparent reason, dealer could not fix and basically said ' forget you' after a couple of lame tries diagnosing it, acted like it was an insurance policy with too many claims - for a factory defect. This was before the lemon laws were passed. They also lied, saying the electrical issue on the KIA Sportage we traded in had been fixed on the newer model. Right. Will never even be tempted to own another KIA. And don't even get me started on those obnoxious and blatantly racist KIA SOUL commercials. Why would you buy a car from someone who not so subtly equates you with rats? Rap music and large gold chains with medallions, gee, who could they have been targeting?

Hindsight is 20/20, but documentation is key. So taking it in and getting 'fix or replace seat motor' on the actual work order you sign up front, and at the end, would have covered you. A call to say it needs fixing, and hoping they remembered to fix it while the car was in there for something else, not so much. That said, your closest Honda dealership should be ashamed of themselves after you asked - twice - for something to be fixed. They dropped the ball and are putting it back on you because you didn't cover yourself. Not exactly looking out for the customer. Repair order fell through the cracks once, maybe. Twice? Uh-uh.

A few things. First living in SoCal, there are no less than a dozen dealerships within a 50 square mile radius. I leveraged this when I bought my Si a month or so ago. Second, my wife had a 2002 CR-V that was her first automatic. There were no Maintenance Minders at that time so she relied on the dealership for maintenance suggestions. At about 80,000 the tranny seized. Because she had all the status sheets they give you after service (the ones with the green, yellow, and red check boxes with recommendations and status of various items on the car) she was able to prove to American Honda her car had only been serviced at Honda dealerships and that they never suggested changing the transmission fluid. Should she have known? Yes, but that's also why she trusted the dealership to take care of the car. American Honda replaced the transmission free of charge, although we had to pay for the labor which was about $700.

Between my wife and I, we've had 5 Honda's. I keep every receipt because writing doesn't lie. When it came to the OP calling the dealership about the seat motor, I would have also emailed and got their response in writing. I do this when shopping around for service/maintenance work because certain dealerships offer specific specials. I email the service manager and they usually get back to me with pricing and specials so when they try and charge me a different price, I have proof as to what I was told previously.

Sucks to hear what's going with the OP, but there are steps that could have been taken to help mediate this. Good luck buddy.

I bought my car at Superstition Honda Mesa, Arizona. I have had nothing but arguments with them over covered items. I drove the car off the lot and went to the car wash. As I was washing a huge hunk of paint blew off the drivers side. I immediately went back and they told me I would have to pay for the damage because it looked like a rock hit the car. BS and I am calling BS. I could have washed all the paint to the primer off of that door. They ended up replacing the door only after I started taking my things out of the car and told them I was not going to take the car home and I did not want the car. I went home wrote a Yelp review and no sooner posted it got a phone call and they wanted me to come in and talk about the car. I told them I have said all I need to and the car is yours. What the hell????? It doesnt cost them a dime. I told them I want every record transferred to the Autonation Dealer and I did not want anything at all from this dealer. They had the balls to ask me to change my review on Yelp Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Why, so some other good person can get screwed over too. I dont think so.... Dealers, They talk a good story, but they will cheat you blind. Oh and I bought the "Auto Butler service" You can do all of this by yourself for a fraction of the cost. My car came back dirtier than before it when in for service and I didnt know that a paint service added 15 miles to your car ( I swear they took it to lunch) I didnt know changing a door piece required a road test..........

The name of the dealership is "Superstition Honda"?? Of all the names. So you bought the car and they delivered it dirty? They didn't detail it and at least give it a spray wash before you drove off in a brand new car?

Oh it was a complete joke. The car was still on the car hauler when I got there. I paid for everything (went through all that BS) So when I got the car they didn't add all the items I purchased, I ordered the floor matts, trunk matts, all the extras. When they pulled it out for me to drive off they didnt have the floor matts, Trunk matt, Wheel locks (in fact one wheel and tire was curbed and needed to be replaced) So they took the car back again and still forgot all the extras, alarm, etc. If I hadnt been paying attention they may have gotten away with it. (I used to work at a dealership) I know how they work. Unless you say something it didnt happen... Be careful and watch these guys like a Hawk watching dinner....

Honda Canada changed my seat mechanism at no cost to me, I'm very glad for that.
