New CTR rolling into Charlotte in early July. I am relocating from San Diego for work and looking forward to driving some roads with fewer people on them!

I'm from So Cal too (though stayed in CO for a couple years before coming here) and love it. In Charlotte there are more car things to attend then Raleigh (where I am at) but hopefully will see you around at some. Don't expect the seen to be like in SD or So Cal though, a lot fewer shops and a lot more Chargers, Challengers, Camaros and Mustangs than in CA or at least feels that way hahahahhahahahahaha

So early on in the thread there were a few local Greensboro, NC R owners present. Just curious where do you all if you have done so already get your tires swapped at? I read over in the wheels/tire section there is a special tire machine to do our tires do the size of wheel and size of tire. I imagine not many dealers have this machine for just our car.

At roughly 11K miles and fronts are about shot. I didn't rotate so backs are still decent. Opps I come from staggered setups on Mustangs and forgot about the rotating option. ha

Also I saw someone mentioning a meet. I would be down for a NC R meet. Maybe we can gather everyone's location and find a spot in the middle.

So this maybe an odd question, but currently I live in South Dakota and will be moving in the summer. I am just tired of the weather and lack of financial growth. In any event me and my family are looking to move either to the Raleigh/ Cary area or Orlando Fl. I grew up and lived in Florida so I know the pluses and minusus but I wanted to get an idea how you guys enjoy your area? I have young kids so schools is priority and good driving roads lol. Any input I would love to hear. Thank you!

Funny thing is out here there are way more M3's and 911's than Type R's around. I only see another one about once per month. When I had my M4/M5/M3 they were everywhere!

I love it here. I grew up in So Cal and then moved to CO for three years and I am glad to be here. I left some family behind in CA but I love cars, guns and the outdoors and CA was against all of that LOL!!!!!!

depending on where in Florida and what you do there may be more opportunity there as Raleigh area is smaller than the major spots in FL. The car scene in FL is probably bigger but its not horrible here and there are events at Myrtle Bch, VIR, Atlanta and Charlotte NC all the time once the weather gets nice. there are Cars and Coffees pretty much every weekend and other meets and events to go to as well. I work in Raleigh next to Cary so if you have any specific questions let me know. Ive been here for about two years but with my wifes family living in the area and my dads from southeastern TN we new what to expect when moving here because we both visited often

Thank you! I am self employed and will still own my business up here in SD, but more than likely will try to get into other small businesses where ever we move. I guess as long as the area is growing and we can find opportunity then I can make something work out. My priorities are my kids and wanting them to have the best quality of life and a great school district. I have been to Denver many times and loved the area as well but most of my family are on the east coast. I am glad that you guys have events where you can enjoy cruises and meets. We have great roads up here with the Black Hills and I know I will miss them dearly if we move to Orlando. North Carolina is new to us with me never even visiting the area however I like the idea of exploring new areas and living in a new part of the country. Also it seems like living expense is not too bad and the towns are very kid friendly. and the fact that you enjoy it compared to CA and CO means a lot. Coming from a town of 65k anything should be better than here as far as activities to do lol. If we do end up moving at least I know there is at least a group of car guys out here!

Check the reviews on Schools on multiple sites. Some of the schools are subpar (gradeschools / high schools) but the colleges here are great. Cary and Apex have really good schools and where I live in Clayton has some good schools too but when we were moving out here we saw some that were well below the median for where other schools should be at a similar grade level. CO def served its purpose and had some beautiful scenery but I'm glad to be outta there. As far as roads there are backroads galore and we have the tail of the dragon as well as some other great drives that are within a few hours of here.

Thank you, now I will have to do a bit of research before my visit in May. I am excited that you guys have some great roads out there. I think that put it on top of my list as of right now!

Two questions for Triangle owners...
  • Anyone have Eibach or Swift springs? Would like to see the drop these provide in person and get a ride to assess ride quality change.
  • Anyone had their car tinted? Looking for an installer that can do the hatch without removing the wing.
Not sure if you ever got an answer but I'm in Apex and have eibachs and tinted, CBP. The tint shop across the street from me did a great job and was pretty cheap compared to most others I got quotes from.

Thanks but I ended up going with Spoon springs and installed them months ago. I posted that prior to making the decision.

Still haven't done PPF or tint but plan to once the pollen stops. Who did your tint? Did they remove the lower wing to do the hatch or piece together two pieces?

What do you think of the Spoon springs? Love Spoon & this would be my first choice for springs, if I decide to lower. I saw that they need spring silencers to keep them from chattering on big bumps.

Honesty, I've only driven my car about 40 mi since installing them. I work from home and the CTR is a 3rd car for me, so it didn't get driven most of the winter. From my limited time, it feels rather stock, which is what I wanted. Ouhei may be able to give a better review as he rode in mine and decided to install them on his daily driven CTR. If we can organize a mini meet in the near future I'll be happy to give you a ride.
