Anyone taken the civic or planning to civic to do some autocross runs? Sport mode should be perfect for autocross!

Why did this thread not take off? But whatever. I plan on trying my hand in autocross this year with the new civic. Handles like a go kart and I know I'll be the only one there in a 10th gen. I have no experience tho So I will have to learn the classes and everything.

It would be cool to autocross. But to be competitive (at least here), you need a Lotus Elise, a modified EF, EG, or EK civic, a modified Miata, or something else super lightweight. The Lotus Elise group dominates here though.

I autocross my 2008 Civic Si. It does well and is a fun ride. Waiting for the 10th gen civic si specs to decide if the car is worth buying or not.

I auto-X often but only my Evo IX. I don't even want to try a FWD car since I am so used to and love AWD for that. I can imagine the car having under steer from what I can tell on the street pushing it. The best thing to do is get a good set of sticky tires and then try it out.

I auto x in my 6 speed manual FRS. i would not auto x in the civic. You will have no manipulation of the gear you are in due to the cvt and the car weighs too much to throw the weight arouond like on a light weight chassis. I guess if it's the only car you have than yea go for it.

I will be trying it out this summer just for fun. Not out to break any records, just want to rev the crap out of it and see how it goes.

I'll be in Vancouver in July but without my car. Any weekly events?

The events are actually in a suburb of Vancouver called Pitt Meadows. Quite a ways out and would be a pain to get to if you were just visiting the city.

Here the web page and the dates are at the bottom of the home page.

I've SOLO'd the Elise, the Exige and the WRX and can't wait to get my Civic out on the track (and I'm off summer weekends this year, so I finally can!) - frankly, the WRX was a heckuva lot more fun (as was my '97 GTP Pontiac) to drive than the Lotus, and I suspect the Civic will be as well. Once you factor in the PAX, the Lotus tends to lose its advantage - the raw times are great, but I've actually beaten the Exige by over one second raw in the WRX (my BF was driving the Lotus). Personally, I track my cars for the fun of it and to be competitive with myself or maybe a small group of friends. Not terribly worried if Lotus is highly represented in the field - the driver is what matters, the car can only do so much. Don't let driving a unmodified street car stop you from playing!

My only gripe here is the Chicago club is so huge (around 150-175 cars per event) that heats take forever and it can make for a long day.
