I totally new to the tuner world and just received my V2 Ktuner. I ordered it from TSP with the stage 1 tune, but did not receive an email for the stage 1 tune. Since I bought the Ktuner with the stage 1 maps, did TSP already put the maps on the V2 or do I still need to go to Ktuner and download the program, or do I need to ask for the email?
..... turn on your tuner-> hit the “K” in top left corner->bottom left corner it lists your unit number. Email that number to them and they’ll send you your tune

OK, so more help, please!

I got the email today from tsp and I think I uploaded it properly but went to use the TunerView App, just through the phone and I can't get it to connect through bluetooth. I'm sure i'm just missing a step somewhere but I don't know where. I've done the protocol thing in the app, but not sure what I'm missing. Do you have to root the head unit to use the app on the phone? I was looking to do the live map switch through the phone but no go...
You can’t switch maps with TunerView. You can only flash stored tunes.

Thank you, I guess I'm a bit confused of terminology of all this stuff.

The tunes are the various files that uploaded to the ktuner with the Ktuner tunes with the 19/23psi maps or TSP1 tune with the 3 different maps, correct? Then the switching between maps happens with the cancel button?

I thought I saw someone switching maps on the head unit, am I mistaken (assuming I've got the terminology correct?)?

Thanks all for the help. This stuff is a bit intimidating but made much less so with all you kind people!

I thought the same thing, I was very reluctant, but it is easy as pie once one gets over the anxiety. It's pretty much foolproof, or as close to fool proof as possible. Even if the upload fails, your ECU will go into recovery mode and the Ktuner software will detect that and recover it or give you the option to go back to factory. Just don't rush when uploading and read carefully the prompts when the upload completes

Ok guys, I think I may need help. I'm about as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I bought my Ktuner Friday, received it yesterday, got the email for TSP stage 1 tune today. I saved the file to the laptop, followed the directions the best I can remember. After locking the Ktuner to the car, and registering it, I did the open file, selected the TSP tune, it popped up that some of these files could be partially locked and could not be seen or changed, after clicking ok, it then loads something but the graphs behind the pop up are all blank. I have not hooked it to my car yet do to it being locked up at the office while I'm on call this week. Does this sound right to everyone? I am clueless when it comes to tuning software and computers.

You would select the tsp file when the Ktuner is connected to your car and communicating. After successful ECU erase and new map uploaded, you will be instructed to shut off the ignition, wait for a few seconds, and go back in accessory mode, wait a few seconds then click ok to complete. When you start your car if your laptop is still connected to the Ktuner you will see the engines data live

On the fly Map switching and flashing a tune is totally different. With the TunerView app you can just flash a tune which stored on the KTuner V1.2. On the fly map switch is is only works with the cruise control buttons.

The throttle is regulating engine speed and airflow through the system. This also creates a vacuum within the intake manifold. ..A larger intake volume will affect the vacuum until the RPM creates a balance in the air flow. Thus, sluggish down low, but a little more alive up high.
By slightly adjusting "voltage" to match the volume of air, you can see some gains yes.
Help you out a little @Yonder ?
Can share more on the slightly adjusting voltage to volume of air to see some gains?

I supposed it's under the afm flow?

So, ordered the Ktuner V1.2 from TSP Monday, got here Tuesday. After a rather difficult evening Tues. trying to load this unit, I gave up, and re attempted Wednesday morning, and after a call to Ktuner was able to load the map to my ECU. I hadn't received my TSP1 map yet, so I loaded starter map 19.5 normal, 21.5 Sport. I took it out and mapped my boost levels stock, loaded the "map" and did it again. Stock the max I saw was 16 psi.
Now, 20 psi normal, and I saw 22 in sport. Wow is all I can say, where it used to start "signing off" at 4700 rpm or so, it now pulls hard all the way to redline, even in normal mode, and sport mode just a little bit more. Monday on my way back to work from lunch (car still stock) I pulled up next to a VW GTI at a light, clear road ahead. We both floored it off the line and he pulled me by a car length all the way til we backed off at 80mph or so. Oh how I hope we meet again! He must live near me because I raced him a couple of years ago in my Acura TL....wirth the same result! When I bought the Civic I did the math, my 06 TL has the same power to weight as my stock SI, so exact same result with the GTI. Again, hope we line up next to one another again! Took the wife for a ride when she got home, and she thought the car was smoother than before, but with rev hang disabled, I'm able to drive it like all the manuals I've had in my life....smoothly. Thanks forum! Thanks TSP! Now she's running how it should from the get go, I am extremely pleased.

Glad that worked out for you. Keep in mind that depending on the GTI you raced, it could have 220, 280, or 292 hp (based on a 2016 GTI, they all have the 2.0L engine), but I am assuming this one had the 220 hp 2.0L engine as the higher models would have left you more than a cars length. The Ktuner starter 19.5/21.5 or the TSP stage 1 map 2 or map 3 would even things out, unless they have the GTI Golf R, which is nearing CTR territory.

Check your Junk Mail or SPAM quarantine, as that is where the tsp map file TSP emailed me ended up in. Once you install it, I would primarily use Map 1 for normal driving, which makes some slight performance enhancements but keeps turbo psi at stock levels, and use map 2 when you want to do some more spirited driving, and map 3 when you really want to do some really spirited driving! Keep in mind that map 2 and map 3 (especially in Sport mode) will put extra wear on your clutch

My GF has asked me a few times if I'm ruining the car as i make these changes... I gave her an "Eh...?"

Does anyone have a screenshot of the Ktuner software and what it looks like when there is the standard 2 maps from Ktuner and 3 from tsp1 loaded? My software didn't look like it took, but the cruise control changes seem to be doing something and I totally see the rpm hang at 1000, 2000, and 3000 respectively. Topping out, in 3 (presumably) at ~23PSI. I don't quite know what to expect as far as looking at the software. Another thing that happened when I went to flash the tsp1 tunes I think I pressed slot 2 and the software went into action uploading, is that normal? I may reset to factory and reupload for fun, but I'm not positive I need to.

To answer your GF, probably not. If you were boosting the HP to 300 whp and above or are doing constant 24 psi boost you are definitely shorting your engines life (The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long), but if you are using tsp stage 1 maps 1 and maps 2 you should be fine.

To select a map, you need to hold down the cruise cancel button for a few seconds, toggle to the map you want (1,2,or 3), then when you have selected the map you hold down the cancel button for a few seconds again, let it go and the RPM needle should drop down to normal. If it stays on one of the numbers, you have not switched the map yet. As far as selecting the Slot 2, than you uploaded it to a slot on the Ktuner and not your ECU
