When going WOT, I notice the CVT revs up like it's holding a gear ratio, and it takes a bit of time for the needle to hit 6000 rpm. But there was one time, when it jumped straight to 5000 rpm, in the same way that a conventional automatic would do if you stepped on it and it downshifted. The power came on much stronger than normal, and I got pushed hard into my seat. However, I wasn't able to repeat it. Is there a certain combination of throttle input and position that would make the CVT behave in this way?

lol maybe the CVT belt slipped?
Weren't you the one that said fuckit to the break-in period and just WOTd everywhere as soon as you got the car?

Oh god terrible memories of my old Accord with the shitbox tranny slipping.

If I give it half-throttle quickly (literally a quick stab), it'll usually do this too. If I floor it, it slowly builds. This is only when travelling at highway speed typically. Shoots up to ~4k RPM for quick passing.

It mimicked the whole downshifting two gears thing of a conventional auto, and it feels great. Its great to do this as "fuck you" move to someone who's cut you off :)

Try shifting into S from D and having eco mode off. This does exactly what you're describing

Could this be removed with a tune on the CVT? I notice my CVT has a lot of build up on the turbo when peddle is to the metal, and there is next to no power output, even on a downshift
