you should have zero issues with the brake pedal as you would not touch them at all.

warning lights can be from them maybe forgetting to install the connector back on? Noise can be from a loose end link on the sway bar? Hard to say without knowing how your installer installed it.

Anyone have issues with their brakes after having the suspension apart? I had my springs installed today and there’s now something very wrong with the car. When I first drove off and hit the brakes for the first time I had basically no pressure on the pedal. A quick release and repress and things felt pretty normal so I chalked it up to getting everything flowing again after having it apart. The rest of the drive home it felt mostly normal, just noted I’d mention it to them in the morning when I came back for an alignment (they like to have the car sit for a night before aligning). Once I got to my neighborhood though I started to get some weird noises in the front and then a host of warning lights came on. With the car in what I assume is limp mode I coasted to my house.

They’re going to have the car towed back over in the morning (they were going to tonight but they didn’t bring anything to get a lowered car on the truck). It feels like something is loose in the drivers front but that wouldn’t explain the lack of brake pressure though...luckily they’re owning up to fixing it so far but good lord this is exactly why I paid someone else to install!

On a positive note the Spoon springs feel great and I didn’t rub on the drive home.
Sounds like they pushed the pistons back in the caliper and your first press pushed them back out. That is normal for caliper manipulation.
The other sounds/warnings seem concerning.

From what I understand they followed the DIY stuff from Spoon, but I don’t really know.

Yeah that’s what I thought too, I moved the car to the side of my driveway so my wife can get out in the morning and my brake pedal pressure is still messed up so I have no idea what they did to it. I’ll find out tomorrow I guess...

Like boosted said...I'd think it wouldn't be brake related since the brakes shouldnt been messed with...although. we dont know what method they used to install the springs. They could taken the brakes off when removing the center nut and rotor.

Ouhei, you'll want to know what method they used to install the springs.

Also check and see if there is a bit of fluid under your car...check even within that aluminum area or any signs anywhere under the car.

I'm wondering if they pulled your drive shaft out and messed up something in the process of putting it back in.

Oh just saw your reply...just ask to make sure lol..if they did use spoon method. Even if they did...its quite easy to pull the drive shaft out. While you can put it back in.. I've heard of people messing that up

Yeah I have no idea how it got as messed up as it did. I will find out today, tow truck should be here soon to take me over to the shop. Hopefully it's some loose bolts and other easy fixes and I'll be on my way with no more issues.

Okay so they didn't bolt something with the hub assembly properly so it got loose and the hub assembly itself is screwed up now. There's a host of sensors and stuff in there so it would explain the noises, errors and brake system malfunctions. The shop has overnighted a new hub assembly from Honda and should have the car back together tomorrow.

They're obviously covering the costs for the repair, as well as refunding me a portion of the install cost and giving me some money to cover my travel expenses for the day. I'm glad they're being good about it all at least, it's a major annoyance but at least I don't have to fight them about covering the repairs.

holy shit what kinda shop is this lol.

i'm assuming they removed the axle nut in order to do the install (the easiest way imo) and forgot to tighten the axle nut back and damaged the splines? idk how else they can mess up the hub assembly with a spring install.

if you do it the spoon way, your not touching the hubs at all so.
That is very unfortunate man. hope everything is back together fine with no issues.

wow, the fact they are doing all that is good news. Some shops would have been, oops, my bad...we'll get that part next month, good luck getting around, lol.

This is one reason I work on my car mainly on my own. I always get worried people will mess it up....I'd rather mess it up myself :D

They're a performance shop specializing in suspensions, they do a lot of the track car setups around here. I've used them for alignments before and never had any issues. Based on how their responding to what happened I'm not going to trash them, mistakes happen and so long as their willing to do what it takes to make it right I can deal with the inconvenience.

I would guess you're right about what happened, he explained it to me but it was early in the morning and as soon as he said it wouldn't be done today my mind went to figuring out how I was going to get to the office, lol.

Yeah, they're good guys and have been extremely apologetic (they're probably really happy I managed to not wreck the car and it's just the hub assembly they have to replace).

It's funny, I used to do most of the work on my cars myself too, but with my wife being ~8 months pregnant and having moved away from a friend that had all the tools I would need I just didn't have the time to dedicate to this so I wanted to take it somewhere to have it done properly. That didn't work out too well, but all should be good tomorrow *fingers crossed*.

Got the car back yesterday, everything is good/normal now with the hub assembly replaced. The shop owner was extremely apologetic and made sure I was satisfied with what they were doing to make the situation right. I got a chance to drive the car a bit and between last night and my commute in this morning I think I've covered most types of conditions so I can give a quick review of the Spoon springs.

The car mostly feels the same as the OEM setup, which for this car is exactly what I wanted. I think the car actually feels best now in R+ mode as the extra dampening in the shocks matches the slight increase in spring rate. Sport feels fine, but on some bumps you can start to tell the springs are a tiny bit over-sprung, nothing cheap feeling but you can feel a difference. I never drive in comfort, so I don't know how that feels. I haven't encountered any bump, dip, pot-hole, or any other road hazard that has made the car feel jarring or cheap at all, going over speed bumps feels just like it did before. I haven't had issues with any extra noises or anything that would require silencers (the roads here are decent though, maybe it's just on really bad bumps?), but I'll keep an ear out and order some if any noises pop up.

If you want to give the CTR a small drop to get rid of the OEM wheel gap, but don't want the car to change how it rides I think these are the best option. I haven't ridden on Eibachs, but the Spoons are exactly what I was looking for and I'm happy I spent the extra money on them.

Congrats! How long did rhdjapan take to ship the springs to you? and was there any surprising/hidden fees? The price on there is the lowest I've seen but I saw online that some people who ordered stuff from there had to pay customs fees in order to have their packages released from Fedex or some other shipping co.

yeah, wondered that also. I know another site, something like nengun, or something like that...listed a cheap price, then added on shipping, etc. I just went through evasive...got them quickly
