Anyone have any comparison to the AcDelco synchromesh? I heard that was the way to go for swapping out trans fluid in the car. Did amsoil beat them out?

I'd be curious as well. That can be had locally here and is a decent amount cheaper too.

I have no experience with that MT fluid, but I believe the one in the white bottle is semi-synthetic and not sure about the fluid in the black bottle. It has good reviews on Amazon

Pretty positive that the white is full synthetic

Cold weather isn’t really an issue for me, coldest it gets up here is like 30 degrees. I’ll pick up two quarts today! Thanks for the reply.
Makes me miss the warmer Southern Utah winters. I moved to Northern Utah last year and have to deal with 20-30 degree colder winters and this horrible white powdery stuff... I'm hoping the summers will be cool enough to make it all worth it, but we'll see.

Let us know how your fluid change goes. This weekend I'll be upgrading my shifter to the Stage 2 Acuity stuff (sans acuity shift knob). Here's to hoping to an even better shifter!

I used a Synchromesh... I think it was a GM product in the past. It was good once the car warmed up but it was a thicker oil (75w-90 I think) and the cold winter's in upstate NY make it virtually impossible to shift in the RSX I had at the time for several minutes after startup. I didn't notice it's warm performance to be any better than the Amsoil, and the Amsoil was good to go even at -15F.

Whatever you choose... just realize in a cold climate, it may be an issue with all very thick gear lubes in the Acuras/Honda's that call for these light 30w oils.

Good to know! yes it is a GM product. I think ill be going with the amsoil then. I store her in the winter but i rather have it just in case.

So switching to Amsoil give far better results.

So should one consider switching to Amsoil as soon as possible, ditching the Honda oil , ideally from Day 1 of the car's life ?

If there anything to be gained LONG TERM, from having the Car always having been run with Amsoil, as opposed to switching to it later at say the 1st Honda Recommended service change ?

There isnt anything long term gained other then you feeling the car shift better. If you feel the car shifts fine as is now. Then dont worry about it. But if you feel the crunchy feeling most people on this thread are talking about then getting a better oil in the gearbox is gonna help

I understand that, and to be honest, so far, I do not feel any issues in our 2018 Si, and have been driving MT for quite a few decades !!

But if the Amsoil oil is doing a better job in lubricating the gears, and other parts in the MT, making it "smoother", then it may be protecting the MT better from wear, so the sooner it is switched to the better ??

It definitely protects better, as it is a synthetic. @parshisa showed it has better viscosity than the OEM at 100 degrees C. I would wait till your next oil change to do it and not rush into it if you are not experiencing any shifting issues

Is Honda OE full synthetic?

I don't know, I can't find to much information on it except that it is equivalent to 10W30. It has a lower viscosity than Amsoil at 100 degree C (7.5 cSt @100 degree C/212 F, Amsoil is 10.1). It is probably not synthetic, but I don't know for sure
