Dayum that looks good. It's at stock height? That's nice. There's one thing I really want to applaud you on. A lot of people post pics of their wheels without any tire wax on them. I love the wet black look on tires. Great look. The eye doesn't quite see the wheel gap even though you are stock height. Smart.

Stock height on 255/40/18. Dude, thanks for all the kind words! I use Chemical Guys Silk Shine Dressing on the tires with an applicator. Goes on in about 10 seconds per tire and isn’t gooey, gross, or residue leaving. Rain or washing take it off instantly.

I'm going to run some bbs ch-r wheels in 18x9 from kamispeed with an offset of 44mm trying to figure out the biggest tire I can run without rubbing. Really would like a 265/40/18 ps4s if I could squeeze it on stock height. would be fine with rolling the fenders if it was needed. thanks for any insight.

Hello there. Thanks for sharing the experience. How did you like the RS4s on the CTR? Did you track the car? Looks like you are running 19s whereas I will be on 18x9.5 ET45 with 255/35 (most likely as the Hankook RS4 is not offered in 255/40). 255/35 does not look bad on 19s, we will see how it looks on 18s soon.
It was/is a good drive , yes i did track them and they did fairly well.
Somethings Im NOT impressed with , 19's seem a little "loose" on the circuit track. I felt it worse on a stock R with 18's .
I didn't feel anything (odd) on the stock 20's .

So ill be "playing around" with sizes and tire brands, corner balance all on stock suspension .
As it stands, im 90% sure im going back to 20's as the wheel gap left to right is killing me .

well see.

As a side note ; going from 16's to 17s on my S2000 with RS3 was night and day(17s were GOLD) . I did at one point go 18's and it was same as 17's .. for whatever that is worth ,

Do bronze rims look good next to silver accents? Or should I go with a diamond dark gun metal? My friend says the spoke like ones are more like euro racing cars.

I love those bronze ZE40s all the time. I got a set of those at 19in just waiting for the day to install. If you want JDM look then you go with TE37 Saga line. I love Rays but lots of that look out there. Especially Miatas. Mazda Miata is the cheapest and easiest build I know. Perfect for the college student with no money. Just slap a set of TE37s on there. So yeah, they are played out a bit but they ALWAYS look good.

Thanks. Interesting that your tires felt loose. it could be the tires in part and the taller 35 profile. You may want to try a tire known to have a stiffer sidewall, such as the 71Rs, before making a final decision on 18/19 inch wheels. I won't mind the gap too much as the aftermarket wheels will be for track duty and long distance trips. 20" Stockies will remain for local driving--I love the look and will get some Pilot Sports on next.

These look very good on a black car. I considered these before choosing the TS5s.
Thanks I wanted these since I first saw them, I think they really suit the FK8. I did consider the Titan wheels but kept coming back to these

So, I've just ordered my Sonic Grey FK8 to replace the red FK2 (Company lease, so swapping cas every three years) and am now looking around for wheels and tyres.
The original 20" will immediately go in storage like I did with the FK2's OEM wheels.

On the FK2 (OEM = 235/35R19 19x8,5J ET60) I ran:
- 255/35R19 MPS4S on a 19x8,5J ET40 wheel (Slight rubbing on compression)
- 255/35R19 Winters on a second set of OEM wheels (No rubbing and compatible with my snow chains.)

The reason I went wider, and a bigger diameter was because i'd get in trouble on the kink on my driveway if the ride-height went down from new OEM's by even a few mm. (Just normal wear would be too much.

For winter, I'll just keep the set of OEM FK2's, they'll fit, add a little bit of ride height, and most importantly: I can keep using my expensive snow-chains. (I use the car for a lot of trips to the Alps :))

For summer, my mind is set on 18x9,5J ET45 Wheels, but then the sizing struggle starts. (First bad news is that Michelin doesn't offer the MPS4S in 18" in Europe, and I can't just get a supersoft semi-slick because I do too many miles...)

I have some limiting factors:
- I can't do any fender or suspension work (Company car..., but that also means I don't have to leave a margin because lowering is out of the question.
- I can't go for a (much) smaller diameter tyre, as lowering the ride height will get me in trouble on my driveway.

So, the popular 265/35R18 is eliminated from the start as it lowers the ride height by >6mm.

Keeping all that in mind I end up with either 255/40R18 or 275/35R18
Comparison against OEM below:

Could anyone provide an insight if either of these two would cause rubbing problems on the 18x9,5J ET45 wheel on OEM suspension?
I don't want to make the same mistake as with the FK2 and going for something that "should" be fine, but ends up rubbing a little in the end when driving it spiritedly.
