Congrats @drifter5. A saving is a saving, both financially (driving the distance) and the blue tape method.

Got mine at Huggins and I would say the experience in getting 1 locked was kinda weird. I was on the wait list position #10 and within the end of the month, I got it. Granted it was December holiday season, it could be a combination of people not having the funds and/or simply backing out due to other reasons. Surprisingly I didn't have to do a $2k deposit, but if anything, that'll probably go towards the car and not on top. $41.8K is justified with the packages they install on the car (dealer package of 2 options + 2 accessories specific to the type R like door sill and illumination). It's not an out-of-thin-air ADM, but I do have to admit the prices on those things they throw in are inflated :/. I did look at window stickers on their other cars and they were the same, so no price gouging because it's an R. They just double the options on the R compared to the rest and expect you to accept paying for that. I can DM you my sales guy if that helps.
The sticker on other cars have those add-ons but you don't end up paying for them. My friend just got an Accord sport 2.0T for 30k OTD and it has all the add-ons. Even in their e-pricing email, they list the add-ons and say "no extra charge". Those accessories are not worth 3-4k for sure. Its an ADM.

Anyone currently shopping in the DFW area? What has been your experience with the current inventory available? I've started the process and haven't had the greatest experience so far. Here's what I've come across:

Honda of Mckinney's customer service was a joke and I don't want to work with them any longer. I'm holding out for a rallye red and they're the only dealer that has it in stock.

Honda of Fort Worth wanted a $2k non-refundable deposit to get on their list with a sales price of $41,895.

Huggins was most responsive and professional, got my name on their list but I could be waiting awhile if I hold out for red.

Reached out to a couple of Houston dealers with no luck. I got quickly annoyed when it was obvious they didn't read my email and tried to sell me an SI.
My experience was similar. My patience gave out and didn't want to deal with Honda dealers. Got a WRX instead. I still want the type R and want to get it out of my system but it makes me cringe that I would have to walk in to these dealerships.

Yeah, I hit up every single one in the DFW area. All wanted 5k ADM. One even had the audacity to offer a used 2018 for ~38k. I was flabbergasted and offended.

It was worth it in the end.

Yeah well... I theorized that since it's a halo car, they're not a throw-in-there add-on. I couldn't even budge them to give me an additional add-on to make it worth some incentive. Sure maybe I got baited a bit, but hey, 3 months with the car now, couldn't be happier with my life.

Honda Civic 10th gen CTR Dealership Nice List for Texas Area 1664CD2C-09B8-4B78-B1B2-0161680D9C3A
Try Huggins Honda. Their Rs have 4K in add ons but they were willing to negotiate that. I didn’t get msrp but I got what I thought was a fair price given what all the other stealerships are asking in the metroplex. And at least you get a few nice add ons out of it like the cargo tray and nitrogen in the tires (just kidding). They have a white one left and a black one coming in.

The car is incredible I am so happy with the purchase. I am coming from a 2016 Golf R and the Type R is way more fun and engaging. It’s like an event driving this thing!

I was looking at Honda of Mckinney a few weeks ago. They wanted 5K over MSRP for a CW but after a few minutes brought it down to 2K. I am sure it could be talked down some more.

I'm thinking the first CW after mine. Which sales guy did you deal with?

Weston. He was good and I liked working with him. He was really good about texting back answering my questions before driving out there from Dallas.

Honda of Spring. Denise is your go to. You’ll have to put a small deposit, but they sell all CTR’s at MSRP

sounds cool, do you know how long have to wait for CW? thanks man!
+1 looking for CW
Each dealership seems to get allocated 1 every 1-2 months, depending on the popularity of the dealership. Use Honda's inventory search if you haven't already. Seems more up to date than contacting dealerships and gets trapped in their sales game. From there, you can call about locking 1 up. Good luck!

I waited 8 months, but I was 10th on the wait list and passed on the first car offered to me. Once I finalized what color I wanted, it was about 2 months before I picked it up.
