I really like that. How’s the weight compared to the factory knob?View attachment 135806 When the Polar Vortex moved in, I banished all metal from my shift knobs and ordered this from Super-Klasse.com. It has great weight, and uses quality leather. I made a slight modification in order to re-attach the boot. View attachment 135806
If you still have the factory knob, can you take a picture of the factory knob next to the new one so we can see the size difference. I really like the style and lookThanks to cekIV’s recommendation I bought the superklasse shifter. It works great with the suggested lockingnut.
The knob is a bit bigger and significantly heavier than stock but feels great to the touch. I love that the red stitching matches the rest of the interior.
I was wasn’t looking forward to the upcoming California summer heat with exposed metal in the stock shifter so this will be pretty thermally neutral. Also the few cold mornings have been no problem with the new shifter. Happy camper!
If memory serves (dealer sold me my Type R with the SI shift knob by mistake) it’s a lot heavier and can sit nearly as low if not lower. As others stated, you have to do a little modification to get it to fit on the stock SI retaining nut, but with the Type R retaining but I had no issues.I really like that. How do they sell you a Type R with the Si shift knob "by mistake"?? The car gets unloaded off the truck with shift knob in place. Having the wrong shift knob on my car would raise flags for me, that's pretty sketch. I'd wonder what else was done to the car.If memory serves (dealer sold me my Type R with the SI shift knob by mistake) it’s a lot heavier and can sit nearly as low if not lower. My car was used for the 2018 Chicago Autoshow, the dealership was open about this from the beginning. You're correct that it ships with the right shift knob, but they were taken off before the show (because they like to be stolen for whatever reason). Upon arrival back to the dealership, they put the SI shift knob on the Type R while it was being prepped for sale (I called to look at it before it was ready), so I'm assuming this was done on accident and in rush. After the sale, I realized the mistake and brought it to their attention. They looked around and couldn't figure out where the shift knob had gone, so they ordered me a new one (and also offered me a choice of the stock or the Honda accessory, knowing what would happen, I should have gone with the accessory knob). A couple weeks later, I get a call from a tech from the dealership asking for the SI shift knob back to swap with a Type R one when he was prepping the SI for sale. How do they sell you a Type R with the Si shift knob "by mistake"?? Oh, it was an auto show car, that makes more sense. I wasn't aware they removed the knobs in advance now, I was always under the impression that they just immediately get stolen by the first wave of people that come in. Was at the NY Auto Show last year and literally none of the manual cars had their knobs by the time I got to them. It's crazy what people will take out of those cars, if it ain't bolted down expect it to go missing lol.My car was used for the 2018 Chicago Autoshow, the dealership was open about this from the beginning. Her you goIf you still have the factory knob, can you take a picture of the factory knob next to the new one so we can see the size difference. I really like the style and look
Thank you. Yeah it does look a little bigger. But it looks like the height is equal, which is good. It looks like it’s ergonomically designed to be comfortable in your hand. Her you go
It also sits very low on the column as the bottom "lips" over the actual bottom of the main body.Thank you. Yeah it does look a little bigger. But it looks like the height is equal, which is good. It looks like it’s ergonomically designed to be comfortable in your hand.
I would say it sits a tad higher when all said and done but doesn't bother me at all. Gotta say I've been enjoying this shifter a lot since I got it. I was never a fan of metal shifters so this fulfills my needs.Thank you. Yeah it does look a little bigger. But it looks like the height is equal, which is good. The weight, I believe is 12-13 oz. The OEM is probably around 5 oz. For me, the heavier weight provides a more solid, determinant shift. I also felt the OEM knob was too tiny.I really like that. How’s the weight compared to the factory knob?
You know I think you have a very good point. I had the acuity knob on mine. I installed the whole stage 2 acuity shift kit in my car. But I actually put my original knob back in when I realized both the acuity shift knob and my factory shift knob were close as far as weight, but my factory was slightly heavier. But I also realized I am more of a claw style shifter more than a grip style. So nothing against Acuity because I enjoy everything else about the stage 2 shift kit but I prefer my original knob. So if I do upgrade my knob it will be like the one you got.The weight, I believe is 12-13 oz. The OEM is probably around 5 oz. For me, the heavier weight provides a more solid, determinant shift. Lol which parts? Suspension I’ll say yeah sure, but their cams make real power, stuff like a shift knob is of pretty good quality. Surprisingly they don’t make all junk.Skunk2 is junk, IMO.
you are correct. i weighed my OEM shifter to be about 138 grams, or 4.8 ozThe weight, I believe is 12-13 oz. The OEM is probably around 5 oz. For me, the heavier weight provides a more solid, determinant shift. I also felt the OEM knob was too tiny.
