First time posting in here..(so I hope this is the right spot)
Just recently got a 2017 Type R used with 1,000 miles on it. I thought I did my research, because it already had the updated wiring harness, however, when I was getting on the gas around 5,000 RPMs shifting from second into third the CEL came on, and the Rev matching and emission issue came up. I Brought it to my local dealership they pretty much told me that they reset it and they couldn’t make it happen. And it threw 2 codes P0087 and P2099.
So I went and picked it back up and again on the way home the same thing happend so I turned right around and dropped it off again..
This time I noticed it wasn’t making any positive pressure/ boost
Any insight or similar issues ?
From the service records it shows that the wiring harness update was done about a month ago

Looking it up, P0087 is a fuel rail pressure issue & P2099 post catalyst fuel trim too rich. My highly uneducated guess is a faulty sensor or some type of fuel system issue that they will have to refer to Honda about, and should not be related to any of the issues in this thread.

I'm definitely no expert at fuel systems, so here's hoping someone else may have had this happen too and can offer some support if your Honda techs can't figure out how to diagnose the issue. Although I'd recommend starting a new thread if you need help from the forums, just to contain your specific issue. Good luck, and yay for warranties!

not familiar with code p2099, and actually when i go to look it up there are no results. however, code P0299 is an underboost code so that would make sense. hard to say without being the one diagnosing the vehicle. maybe when the harness was replaced a hose was left disconnected or a wiring connector wasnt fully snapped in.

What about code P0507? Can anyone help me understand what the code means.
DTC P0507: Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected, the troubleshooting for this code is basically just check for vacuum leaks and repair

Check for vacuum leaks at these parts:
-PCV valve
-PCV hose
-EVAP canister purge valve
-Throttle body
-Intake air duct
-Intake manifold
-All parts through the turbocharger to the throttle body

Excuse me, but can anybody help me translate this?

Haha, just kidding. I just wanted to add my name to the list before I take the car to Honda tomorrow. Sucks to be me right now. My CELs came on at 100mph on the highway with the A/C running.

No limp mode. Car sounds perfectly fine. No overheating. I had just installed some parts. HKS Intercooler, HKS Muffler, Eventuri AirBox, HPI Oil Catch Can. Basically, I was just going for a short cruise. Here’s a couple pics of the CELs I got. I drove gently and smoothly. No heavy downshifting, just brake and shift down in range.

So now I have to go to Honda tomorrow.

#MeToo... wait am I doing that right??? Lmao sorry I like joke.

Very Unhappy to report this is clearly still an issue. I have a 2019 Sonic Grey Pearl Type R with 1615 miles on it. I’ve owned it for just 17 days and it is absolutely bone dry stock except for K&N drop-in filter. Exact same problems for me. Just cruising along and then the display started rapidly firing warnings at me. CEL, Emissions System Problem, Rev Match Problem, Ignitions System Problem & Fuel Systems Probe.

I had it towed about 50 miles to the closet Master Tech and it’s at the dealership now. I’ll let you all know what I find out but here’s what I was about to get off my ODB II scanner before the tow truck arrived.

Okay, first off! All of that madness on your OBD reader is correct. Thanks for posting that. Now I know exactly which one I should buy.

Okay so you are running K&N and I’m running Eventuri ( Basically another K&N ). Are you sucking in air to the point where it sounds like a jet? I believe It’s getting so much boost, it exceeds ECU parameters. Conclusion based on the info my Honda Tech told me.

Following your post now.

I don't even have a full CAI System like you do with the Eventuri. Mine isn't a system and most definitely not coned. I seriously just put a $49.99 drop-in K&N filter that is sitting in the OEM air box.

Foxwell NT301 is the ODB II reader. It was delivered in less than 18 hours after purchase from Amazon and One Day Delivery. It's a pretty solid unit for only $59.99. Dealership called and said "This is going to take some looking into. The Master Tech is about to diagnose this from the air intake on back so this could take a minute. Please be patient with us as we have not experience anything like this before."

I guess not many of us Type R guys running around the Kansas City metro area lol. My dealership said I'm only the 3rd one they've ever sold. Two 2018's and then my 2019 which I just got May 5th.

Awww man i was the only sonic gray in kc now I got to get something else. My 2019 did this after I worked on the fuel system, I cleared the codes and it never did come back on. These cars are pretty dam picky that is for sure. I'd be surprised if they actually find anything. I did have my air box out and the maf was unplugged for awhile, maybe it didn't like that.

I've gotten this damn issue twice now and it has cost me track time.

Each time the tank got below 1/4 full and the engine sputtered during high G turns.

Then loss of power, then the 3 warning messages.

The first time were able to clear them by using an OBDII reader and disconnecting the battery.

Not this time.

I lost two track sessions and had to drive home with zero boost.

Burned-up the OEM front brake pads last week at the track (disintegrated after 1 weekend), and this weekend both front tires delaminated.

The Conti tires are junk for serious track use.

The car is a 1 month old 2019 with 1200 miles on it.

This car is NOT track ready! :(
