Seems like most people on 18's are using 265/35-18, why not 275/35-18? Will it rub? Or just because it's a lot more expensive? At least with Firehawk Indy 500, 275/35-18 is closer diameter to the stock 245/30-20 Continentals.

Same with 275/30-19 vs. 255/35-19.

Whether it will rub or not is dependent on your wheel, with the offset most people are running 265/35 fits better and is within 2% speedo error so they go with it.

Curious on replies, I know a few people using 275s but they also have around -2.5 to -3 degrees front camber. Since I can only get about -1.7 right now I worry it’d rub. Anyone try it? If so what wheel specs

Simple answer because it will rub if lowered. Unless your going to be +50 offset. At +45 offset you may still risk rubbing depending which tire you go with and which drop

In for info... Just ordered some 18x9.5 +45's with the intent of 275/35. If it rubs i need to know as this is a car that will be getting used in the mountains.

I'm just sharing what i've seen people report on fb. if you have facebook, search in the groups, people with experience has commented. They rub and end up chopping up the rear.

But, it depends on some factors;

- it will rub if you're lowered
- it will rub if you have people sitting in your car. Depending on the qty and weight of people in your car, it will rub because that's the equivalent of lowering your car
- it will generally NOT rub if you're stock height and has no one sitting in your car but you, assuming you're around 175lbs. But, i've heard reports of slight rub when hitting some hard bumps.
- it will also depend on your offset as well, but most people run 35-50 offsets or somewhere in between.

At the end of the day, you're probably ok if you're stock height.

It will also depend on the tire. Firehawks are relatively narrow, AD08R are relatively wide. The former would probably work at stock height, the latter probably not.

When my 255/40-18 PS4S's are done (which will be awhile), I plan on trying, at stock height, 265/40-18. That's not as tall as the 245/35-20s I had which never rubbed, but a tiny bit taller than the stock tires, and should be perfect for a 9.5" +45 wheel. I don't find that with the right tire, a slightly thicker sidewall is a negative for 98% of my driving. Might it shed a few tenths on a track? Possibly, but I'll have 5 miles that way for every 3000 I have on normal streets. Worth it to me.

I ran 275/30/19 for a year on 19x9.5 et45 wheels. No rub, Im not lowered. I will not run that size again because the tires hydroplaned after 60mph during hard rain. I daily the car and mostly do highway where the speed limit is 70mph. Dry grip and cornering was great.

My car was probably the first CTR fitted with 275/35/18s.

Regular, non-R Compound tires - 275/35/18 will NOT rub on stock height; it will NOT rub even on Eibach ProKit; it WILL rub on the front liner on nasty bumps with Sportlines with rear camber arms (prolly Swift, too) — i can only vouch for +45 offset & 9.5 width wheels.

I just got the BBS RF 521s. I'm going to try the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s in 275/35/18 instead of the 265s. I've made no suspension modifications so I am hoping that they will fit and ride well, especially since they are almost identical to the stock tire height/diameter. I'll post again when I decide which tire I will go with and why.

what’s the wheel offset? You can run 275s just fine even with a wider r compound as long as the wheel offset is +45. +35 will cause some headaches

I'm going with 275/35/18's on Michelin Pilot 4S. Will be putting them on soon as my BC Forged wheels get here sometime this month. I'll let everyone know how they fit...went with 18X9.5 +45 and hoping I don't need a drop to look good :)

So I went with the Michelin pilot sport 4s in 275/35/18 Mounted on BBS RF 521s, offset is 47mm. They fit beautifully and in the short time that I have been driving it with this setup I've had no issues, no rubs. All in all I think that they look great.
