I snapped the bolt stud on the turbo charger when installing Turbo Blanket.

Planning to replace my catless DP with a catted version, and expecting studs and nuts to break again. Can someone share the quantity needed and the parts numbers for them? Also want to get the remaining stud removed/drilled out.

why not use a proper torque gun and penetrating oil in the first place. lol , i will never do this mod because of this, i am happy enough with a hondata e30 tune and everything stock. is the catted downpipe really worth it lol,

i dont even think these aftermarket intakes are worth spending 400-500 bucks on the type r. Stock is the way to go for resale

I do see your point but a lot of people don't plan on reselling their R that's why they choose to mod it. Or another alternative is mod and keep all OEM parts and when and if they decide to sell they can just swap out the parts and they're good to go.

Not blaming anyone for a broken bolt, but one additional aspect to keep in mind, it is to make sure the torque is applied with a tight socket without any sort of play, the the lest minimum play will increase the chances to snap. A little bit of electrical tape inside the socket helps to get that tight fit.

I'm just a skinny kid, don't even have the strength to screw in the nut like that :D

It just literally snapped when I tried to loosen it with a breaker bar.

Obviously someone in the engine assembly line fell at sleep and didn't get his head straight to screw the nut without align it.

So how can I remove the remaining stud and replace with a new one?
My only answer is RTFM. There are specific instructions on how to not break it. Also, torque back to specs, etc...

Lol after reading this thread it make’s me not want to add a catless downpipe because due to California emissions I would have to go back and forth with the oem downpipe ever time the car is due for a smog check. Going with the catless downpipe is a good upgrade for you Midwest and east coast guys because you guys don’t have to deal with smog emissions and it can be a permanent setup.

is it correct to assume that the best time to put on the turbo blanket is when the car is new or haven't had much turbo used?
