I doubt Honda will go AWD or electric with the Type R, other vehicles yes but not the Type R in my opinion. I think what they’re going to do is keep the existing Type R with some improvements on the next Gen, and possibly come out with a more affordable Type R, drop the Type R engine in a regular hatchback (not all the bells and whistles as the Type R) and tune it down like the Accord Type R engine. or maybe put a tuned down version of the Type R engine in the Si? Stay tuned.

I know Honda is proud of their NSX hybrid system but if you ask me, the extra weight that car carries being AWD/Hybrid leaves me feeling ho-hum about it. I've driven it and it is indeed super fast and capable, no doubt. But it isn't light and you feel that. I had an original NSX and the new one is nothing like that car. Nothing. So despite all the performance, I didn't love driving the new NSX. In comparison, I fell in love with the CTR immediately upon driving it. The NSX to me should have had more CTR soul in it. If it were RWD, non-hybrid, manual transmission and 800 lbs lighter weight, THAT would have been an NSX. Probably a hell of a lot cheaper too and would actually be selling right now instead of sitting in showrooms. Making it a technology demonstrator for pure performance numbers misses what people actually want in a car. The CTR amazingly accomplishes that. It looks childish, but driving it puts a smile on your face like few cars can.

So if the next gen Type R is going to be a bloated pig carrying around a bunch of batteries, it will lose something in my opinion. The current CTR is fabulous because of what they were able to do WITHOUT making it AWD and/or hybrid. It's pure and you get that when you drive it.
, if it beats the Nurburgring record of the current CTR ,then what you said won’t matter. I’m putting my deposit down for a 2021 hybrid type r or once it is announced

The list goes on and on, luckily for the most part they’re just assembling the Type R in England. They should have all the bugs worked out on the Type R by the time I buy mine, hopefully buy mine!
At the end of the day they’re still a Honda, more reliable than most. They will get the bugs worked out on the Type R. It really is a terrific vehicle and I will have one before long.

hopefully the headlights will be cheaper in the future if they are made here. I cannot understand why a single headlight on the type r is 600+ dollars

Because they’re LED and $600 is cheap compared to other cars.

Not sure how you can overlook that or not understand???

600.00 for one headlight is excessive. Id probably go after market since a par get be bought under 300.00 on ebay with a coupon.

Reports that they might try a large portion of production from China. Hope there is a healthy split between US and China production.

i honestly believe if this new green agenda goes through....you will not have a Choice but to get an electric hybrid civic Type R vehicle. The price for GAS powered vehicles is going to go up. The price of gas always trends upward and it's not going down any time soon.
