Has anyone here ran the invidia exhaust with a catless dp? How is the drone on the highway? My current setup sounds nice but there is a lot of drone going highway speeds.

Which Invidia do you have? I've read the R400 has no drone.
What I do know is, that going catless does make any exhaust quite loud. I am definitely wanting to hear what the R400 sounds like with a catless DP myself.

My exhaust setup is PLM dp/fp and dynomax bullet muffler replacing the factory resonator with no mufflers and with 3 inch piping from the front pipe back.

Yeah, I hope someone can provide a sound clip.

Not Invidia but any catless setup I've heard has a rasp to it that isn't present in the catted version. I've got a 27won Catted DP and FP + Magnaflow Catback, and I'll try to get a comparison video with a friend's PRL Catless DP and FP + Magnaflow Catback.

I'm running the r400 with a Catless 3" dp. It's loud, lots of drone that you have to talk loudly over. But I love it. It's really only in the 1k range then above 3k as well. Cruise speed is very tolerable. But if you have kids in the car or have people in it often, you won't want to pair these two.
My man! Cool. Catted it is and later, if needed add a resonator or two depending on the room I have. Thanks for the heads up....would love to hear a clip of it for sure.

I got the same set up (prl catless dp/fp and invidia r400). I don’t have any type of drone or rasp. I love it, But in my opinion it’s not loud enough. Half the people I Ik say it’s loud while the other think it’s not.

I have the same setup as well. Not sure what you're hearing lol, but there is definitely a significant amount of drone for me. I found it most noticeable when rpm's at 2k and then giving it throttle. Sounds like two 12" subs going off haha. Looking at going catted in hopes that it will reduce some of the drone

Installed the R400 on my 2019 yesterday. Car is stock other than the exhaust and tint. While I wouldn't say it's "drone", I would say the R400 is louder inside that any other car I've owned...but this is my first HB, so it's going to be louder. Losing insulation of the rear area. My Evo was catless with TBE, and wasn't this loud down low with an AMS system. 1st though 3rd, it gets kind of loud inside but I like it, and on the highway at 65 or 75, it seems normal for an aftermarket exhaust, and 100% normal. Can't tell if it's as loud outside or not,...I don't let people drive my car. At idle, it's pretty quiet. I have learned to shift slightly different as it make the exhaust sound better. Hard to explain but it's a nice system.

The fitment and all, is perfect. One thing I always hated with exhausts, was the movement of the tailpipes. I bought aftermarket hangers but decided to go with stock to prevent cracking of the pipes (WI here). The back three tips do not move at all when pulled on, love that.

IF I get time this weekend, I'll try to use the orbit function of my Evo drone to capture the sound and car.

I didn't find the noise heard in lower gears as bad, much less drone but I did put a layer of FatMat down where a spare tire would be. The sheet metal is really thin back there, it will pick up any noise. Tap on it and it sounds like you could put a hole through it. Three 4" tips of anything will make noise through that. I covered it more for overall audio sound quality but it ended up reducing the interior noise of the exhaust by about ~20% IMO. Might be the Type R gets up past what one would considered a drone rpm faster, so not noticed but either way, try adding some mat back there.

Do you guys have any videos of your exhausts?
I just ordered an R400 and a frontpipe, but I'm trying to decide between a catted or catless downpipe for my PRL turbo kit.

Do you know how thick the FatMat was? I'm looking into the Noico sound deadening stuff and they come in different thicknesses. Has great reviews so I thought about trying it. The drone is unbearable at times. I mean I make music for a living and DJ so my ears can't be that sensitive?
