Hey all - I'm considering purchasing the USR Turbo Blanket to help with keeping IAT lower:

https://www.unitedspeedracing.com/index.php?id_product=121&controller=product

Obviously turbo temperature will rise as a result of the heat staying in from the turbo blanket, but how risky is this for a non-tracked car? Are there other risks I should be aware of?

Car is my daily driver with a mix of 70% city / 30% highway driving running KTuner Stage 1 with no other mods. Usually 10-15 mins of city driving causes heatsoak, then IATs are usually 120F+ and I'm assuming timing is getting pulled, resulting in lower power output.

Anyone running the USR blanket and have any data points they could share on underhood temps as well? Thanks.

EDIT: Update. I have had this installed for a quite a while now and seems to be working great! IAT2 and IAT temps are down compared to stock while power is up considerably (due to other mods).

Hi , I'm on the same inquiry, I'm planing to do turbo blanket and downpipe blanket, thinking on GRP cated downpipe and downpiep blanket, the problem is the price, very expensive. I like Rv6 downpipe, but I couldn't see any downpipe blanket for it

I think turbo blanket, downpipe blanket plus intercooler is the solution for keep the power in Florida , extremely hot weather.

I have the turbo blanket with GRP exhaust. I haven't done the downpipe blanket yet... but I would highly recommend getting the blankets. The turbo blanket itself helped tremendously with heat.

the USR site has some baseline numbers for the ctr using their turbo blanket, PTP is also another brand that makes turbo blankets. USR is out of stock until September, however PTP has turbo blankets in stock. I plan to pick one up soon to maximize engine cooling

USR sends turbo's to PTP to develop for them.

So no real downsides to a turbo blanket? Like retaining that much heat for so long stressing the turbo body material or something along those lines?
The heatsoak on this car is rediculous

i dont think there are any cons to having a turbo blanket. it'll make under hood temperatures go down and EGT go up which are both good things. a turbo blanket and some ceramic coated pipes will be even more beneficial. wrapping a down pipe or front pipe will just cause it to retain water and rust so ceramic coating is the way to go.

the USR Downpipe blanket for the USR downpipe will fit the P2R downpipe, they are the same. We partnered with P2R early to put the downpipe into production. USR handled all of the prototyping and testing through different revisions and P2R helped with final production.

Member on hear had a turbo issue and they denied his warranty claim because of the turbo blanket which was total BS. He had had to buy a whole new turbo and pay for the install.

That was me. It's true. Put the blanket on and your warranty is gone. Honda flew in a field engineer to have a look then made the decision to deny coverage of my failed wastegate actuator. I actually had to purchase an entire turbo assembly to gain access to the actuator motor which Honda doesn't sell separately. The dealer took good care of me though and was very fair with everything. I was charged 2 hours labor to swap the actuators plus a fair price on a brand new turbo.

I'm still glad I have the PPT blanket on the turbo and inlet pipe. It's an excellent product and does its job very well. Just be VERY careful with the actuator motor... its shaft is apparently VERY sensitive to being knocked out of tolerances, even if you're super careful with it as I was.

The only downside to adding a turbo blanket is I've heard it's a pain in the ass to install.
