The time has come to move on from my Civic. It has served me well for over 90k miles and has been the most fuel efficient vehicle I have ever owned (35.7 mpg lifetime avg). It rode smooth and really had no complaints. Except that pesky dash rattle that the dealer or I could never solve. The technology in the Civic was a leap forward from my previous vehicles, Lane keep assisit, Apple CarPlay, etc. I will always look at the Civic as a really solid all-arounder, it did so many things well. But now its time for the next chapter... enter the Model 3 Dual motor. I hope that I have as good of things to say about it after 90k miles.

The future is electric and the trade-off between performance and efficiency is on another level, I really hope Honda gets on board. This is a Civic forum so I won't dive into the details about the Tesla.

Whats one of those cost these days? Lease deals? Finance? OTD? I keep waiting for the $35K models we were promised.... oh well.. I am guessing $50k? Certainly more than "Civic" money.

Good choice with white.. wonder when folks will notice you got a new white hatchback ;)

I kid.. Enjoy!

The funny thing is, the Tesla is almost exactly the same size as the civic based on external dimensions, so for some of my neighbors, they may not even notice. I have been stuck in a rut with white cars, I just like how they look!. Its also a regular sedan with a trunk, the model S has the hatchback.

The model 3 starts at $42,900 and the $3750 tax credit is good through June, so effectively they start at $39,150.

Tesla make a neat car, congrats. I hope it gives you as many, or more, trouble free miles as your Civic.

My wife got the dual motor Tesla 3 a couple months ago. The car is a blast to drive and I love the tech. We got the version with 311 mile range. Unfortunately, the real world range is quite a few miles less. The "range anxiety" I feel while driving the car is the sole reason I wouldn't want it as my daily driver as there are only 4 Tesla supercharging stations in my city of over 2 million people. Once we buy the wall charger, charging the battery will be more convenient.

I also wish they didn't put all the controls for the car in the 15" display. It's ridiculous that I have to press an icon on the screen in order to open the glove box! With that being said, if my job didn't require a lot of driving I would probably get one. 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and having instant torque makes for a very fun car!

Sounds like we have the same version. Yeah, you need to have a charger at home to make them worthwhile, relying on fast chargers wouldn't be easy. They should only be for road trips anyhow. the 30% range hit in the winter is annoying, but starting with a full charge every day makes it a non-issue for me. Even driving 30-35k miles per year, I don't think i'll have a problem.

Its like driving an iPad on wheels... 4.5 second 0-60 iPad. I enjoy the consolidated controls on the touchscreen, but can understand how others may not. Reminds me a lot of the blackberry vs. iPhone days.

My dream car is the P100D model S but I feel like at this time Tesla is still a pretty new company in the auto business so I'll wait another 5 years for them to straighten out all their problems and issues.

I plan on trading/selling my civic Hatch after the warranty (4 years from now) and possibly making the switch to Tesla

Hopefully by then their technology will be more refined and possibly a little cheaper

I like the fact that they don’t look douchey and can still smoke most cars on the road as needed

Does Tesla accept trade ins? I’ve tinkered with the website, it appears I’d have to sell my car and use the cash as the down payment? Maybe in a few years
