NO, should only take a minute or two, if your car is out in the open, away from being TOO CLOSE to buildings that can interrupt the satellite direct view connection,

Could also be Interference getting into the car's GPS... the GPS antenna is just under the center of the top of the dash. A cell phone placed there can cause issues.

Try, with the car OFF, putting your Smartphone on the dash, restart it, and select the GPS satellite display. See how long it takes to acquire.
In the same location, your Honda should locate in about the same time.
(Keep you smartphone OFF during this Honda test)

I can acquire lock, from on a Honda Head Unit down in the basement.. does take about 5-10 minutes, but I am surprised it does eventually lock. If you are outside, in the clear (ie Not in garage etc), it should take only a minute or two.

Scopesys,

Thank you. Got the car back from the dealer yesterday, for the third time. They have given up on it. They have replaced the GPS antenna once, reset everything.

They said the have issued a World Wide Honda help mail to all dealers to see if someone have had the same issues somewhere else.

Wow I’m surprised they did all that for you. Some of these Honda dealers are extremely reputable.

To My surprise: The problem has been solved (I think)
To the Civic to the local Honda Dealer for the 5th time. This time they would issue the car with a new head unit.
When I came to the garage the mechanic was frustrated because he couldn't make it work. New Head unit and new GPS antenna!!
2 hours later they call and said the car was fixed with help from Honda.
The fix: The GPS antenna is to be placed to the right and not to the left.
Problem Solved :)
