Wondering if any one here has been able to add GPS to the head unit in the RS sedan, that is being talked about in the hack thread. I really want to add GPS but don't want to have to use the phone to do it.

I though GPS is standard across all trim levels in Australia. I am wrong
It may well be .. mainly because there are vast areas of Australia without Cell Connection.
Same applies to Canada.
In The USA, with better Cell coverage, not all 10th Gen Honda's have GPS enabled,

No it isn't, and Yes I have used Honda Hack to Install WAZE on the head unit. The head unit is not very strong though, so be warned that it can be laggy.

If your purchase Honda Hack though, you can get it to send the turn by turn directions to the dash screen which is cool.

Well, as of a couple of days ago, there has been "Proof of Concept" that it is possible to add and activate the Garmin GPS, in 10th gen Honda's that do not come with it enabled from the factory.

But just because it "Can" be done, is no argument that it is OK to do so.
(1) You need root access (ie Honda Hack)
(2) You are enabling the Garmin without a license, and without a legitimately registered (and paid for ) Registration.

And then IF you do all that, the Honda Garmin Android app is basically "CRAP", old, primitive, low detail, and a joke after using Google Map or Warez - so why even bother, and risk undesirable consequences,
Your smartphone is many times faster than the Honda HU, and has far more memory etc.

Use Google Map or Warez on your Phone, (and AA) - download the relevant Offline maps you need when you are in a position to do so, and enjoy a much better experience.

There is a Good reason that Garmin dropped its Android GPS GPS app .. they could not compete in that market with Google Map etc.

The Garmin software in the Honda Units is OLD, DATED, and lacking so many feature that you now get with other Phone Apps, BUT -- if you really want to persue it, the Honda Hack forum is the place to hang around, and get into trouble ;)

So would it be possible with Honda Hack to turn OFF the cars "turn by turn directions" that pop up on my tach (while I'm using Android Auto/google maps on my head unit). I know that according to people here in the forum, people in the Facebook groups AND the Honda manual itself, says that you can turn it off by going to "Settings->Vehicle->Meter Setup" it's SUPPOSED to have an option called "turn by turn auto display"...mine does not have that option (2017 Civic Si coupe). If I can turn it off with Honda Hack, I'm willing to try it! Just didn't know if anyone knew if this would work or not...?
