Can you change the civic 2017+ e-brake to a manual one?

Honestly, what I love about the wrx and the evo is how "old" they are.
Regarding the new WRX they have all the electronics that a Civic Si has. Electronic parking brake, EPAS. Heck the WRX doesn't even have a limited slip rear diff anymore. Both front and rear are now open.

This made me think... The Si and the Type R perhaps should have had a classic pull handle brake. Just to keep with the theme.

As for the FWD, the Si and R have one of the best LSDs out there for this class of car so as much as I would love to see Honda do a RWD car again, this compromise is not really that bad.
I'm honestly just saying about the fwd for the winter... God does it suck. My wife has a mitsubishi lancer ralliart and it's a monster in the snow. It is so much engaging and fun to drive it's incredible.

Yeah that's why the only wrx that interested me was the 2015! Before that I was realllly loving the 05 sti, but I don't want to drill a hole in my wallet so I'd rather not buy that. I don't know about the recent wrx since it's way out of my price range, but the 2015 was a manual handbrake. If you're telling me the latest wrx has the electronic parking brake that definitely kills it for me. Honestly, I just feel nowadays that the cars keep getting bigger with more electronics, less driver-control (like the car does way too many things for you). Feels as though the wrx is becoming a enormous car compared to the older one and it ruins the fun of it for me.

If the 8th gen si would come with a turbo I'd consider it, but I don't like the look of the 2015 and before... I like the new design on the 2016+ civic hence why I want a 2017. It's such a shame to not be able to even drift a little bit with your car in the winter... I don't understand why there's no option for it :(
It's a fwd econobox, you absolutely should not be drifting it. If you can't afford a proper drift car and track days you have no right to be drifting at all.

You could probably wire up the current switch to activate with a lever and maybe ground or add resistors to some sensors to bypass safety systems that are involved with that.. probably not worth it if you only want it so you can slide around in the rain/snow.

Eh I don't really want to drift with it. Sure once or twice a week I'd like to turn a corner near my and just lift it up a bit, but no more than that (and it still makes all the difference). It just really bugs me that in many situations it could have been useful compared to the electronic 4 wheels emergency brake.

The electronic e-brake still only holds the rear wheels, not all 4.

You obviously have no experience driving a car above the speed limit so either do it the right way at a track with a professional telling you what to do or don't do it at all...

I have no interest in going over the speed limits. I just like doing modifications on my car and enjoying it.

This may be useful!
Haven't tried it yet but I'm sure its doable without messing with the electronic ebrake, since its a separate setup:drive:
Only problem is that that hand brake has the same function as the brake pedal. Meaning, when you let go of it, the brakes are no longer engaged.

Could Ktuner (or something like it) +an after market accessory provide the same functionality as a physical hand break?

I'm ASSuMEing the hand break is controlled by by the ECU. If that's the case, can Ktuner change it's behavior? Could that behavior be controlled by a 'faux hand break' mounted in the car?

That’s not drifting, that’s booming around, but not drifting.

I will
That is part of what I want to know! I don't know if there is enough space and if it's actually doable. If it's some genius shit that's gonna cost a thousand no thanks lol
Ing to pay someone if this possible though, I've been following changeable stuff for Honda let me know if anybody do this I willing to pay

I supposssssse it would be possible with some manual parking brake rear calipers, a salvaged cables and hand lever system, and a lot of engineering skills. Plus you’d also have to figure out how to tell the BCM the e-brake was still there, or it would not let the PCM proceed. It would all be a monumental task however = big $$.

But really (IMHO), the EPB isn’t so bad once you get used to it. And the brake-hold feature is great when you need it.

ISFA in the winter (I’m in Alberta so I feel your pain), it’s all about the tires. Given top rated true snow tires (not all seasons), it does surprisingly well.
