Anyone else think these scummy dealers will try to jack up the prices since the news broke about Swindon closing.

It won't close until after the current generation is over. But I guess these dealers will use any excuse.

Agreed. If they even realize it as I've found most car sales people aren't car people so don't really pay attention to stuff like that and some don't even actually know anything about the cars they sell. I'd just call BS if they do. I'm not trying to buy a 2021 CTR, I'm trying to buy a 2019 CTR!

For the California folks, these are the markups I had received the last month (based on my memory):

- Piercey Honda (Milpitas): they wanted $3K markup and that is only because they are "nice" enough to come down from the $15K markup displayed on the window sticker. Has 2 in stock since late Jan, the sales manager even boasted that he can sell to other Honda dealerships at $2500 markup

- Ocean Honda (Burlingame): they wanted $15K markup on a white 2019 Type R. I did see that they manage to sell that one though.

- Livermore Honda: they wanted $5K markup on a white 2019 Type R; not much inventory

- Tracy Honda: had a $800 markup on a blue 2018 model so that was sold but then wanted $15K markup on a 2019 Sonic Grey Type R. Told me they actually turned down $10K markup already . Last I saw, car is still on the lot.

- Sam Linder Honda (Salinas): These jokers have been sitting on their 2018 Type R for 4+ months now asking for $5K markup. I offered $36K and they turned it down saying they own that car outright so not in a hurry to sell for that "low" price. Maybe I am terrible with money but I guess they rather have their $36K cash sit in the showroom instead of collecting interest on it for 4 months (had they sold it) while hoping a sucker shows up sometime this year to buy a MY2018 car with markup. In Salinas no less.

- Marin Honda: Same as Sam Linder, sitting on a 2018 Type R for a while but they were nice enough to text me that they NEVER charge markup. EVER. It is unethical. But they did put $6K "worth" of accessories that they cannot remove.

- Norm Reeves Honda (Cerritos): They wanted $3K markup and they have about ~5 in stock. The internet sales manager doesn't seem to be very motivated selling cars from our exchange. One of the only times I ever call up a salesperson directly and he just informed me of the markup then let me off the phone. Usually, they try to ask you to come in and then follow up religiously.

- Clawson Honda (Fresno): They seemed to have an attitude here that I am troubling them to buy a car and make them money. Quoted me $4K markup for a 2018 model.

Hope this helps somebody here before they waste their time!

I had the same experience with internet manager from Cerritos in person. No motivation to sell a car. Need to talk to someone who actually want to make a deal.

I got my Sonic Gray Pearl last Friday from Turernersville Honda in NJ, 15 minutes from Philly.
They also had one in black .
They wanted to charge $2,200 markup for all weather mats and a cargo tray. They reduced it to $1,200. Not so bad.

I reached out to Cerritos and got nothing but form letter email responses. After responding with questions and getting nothing back but more form letter responses, I just gave up.

I finally talked my wife into getting one so I think it will be pretty soon. I can afford one but it's not a need item. I love my Civic Touring and will keep it. I walked into Honda Cars of Mckinney today., They have had a red one on the floor for around a month. Last time I went in I wasn't quite ready. Today I said if they will sell at list I will buy it., They said 46k but would discount 3k to 43k (I guess)., I laughed, told the salesman they just didn't want to sell it. He pretty much agreed. In parting I told him I would go buy one and at least bring it to them for service. LOL

Airport Honda in Alcoa, TN. Every single time I’ve stepped on that lot I’ve been treated poorly. Make the drive to Honda of Morristown instead (see Clint) they sell msrp and are great people.

Oh, Airport Honda was 5k over msrp.
