How theasible would it be to install a manual E-Brake like a hoon handle. From what I understand essentially you would just need to run some kind of hydraulic plumbing to the hydraulic actuator. Only thing is and it’s not that big of a deal is you can’t press the pedal brake while using it. Just running some thoughts because I really miss an E-Brake with a handle and was wondering has anyone done this or have any thoughts on it?

hrmm.. i have considered this too.

if it is electrically operated then you should be able to hotwire the rear actuators with a switch.

worst case is setting up a logic switch to fool the rears into firing.

Well see I’m not talking tying into the electric side of it at all the hoon handle would essentially act as a master cylinder that press on the already existing hydraulic lines that are there. I don’t think the actuator that the current “parking” brake uses would operate fast enough to pressure and release the brakes to slide it or have fun with it. With running like a hoon handle though you would have to fabricate mounting for the handle and lines that would tie into the brake system. It’s just a theory or concept but after I pay my car off I might actually delve into it.

But why? If you wanted a hoon drift car, you bought the wrong thing. A giant ebrake handle in the middle of the Type R is going to look terrible, all technical issues of installation aside.

It would be for fun not practical use. And it’s just an idea I know it’s not a rear wheel drive drift monster but would be fun none the less

i guess we need to know a few things to start:

assuming the e-brake system is too slow for our purposes:
1. is the abs capable of being triggered front and rear separately, legitimately or not?
2. is the abs system hackable somehow to trick it into firing rear brakes?

assuming the e-brake actuators are fast enough:
1. what are the 3 wires going from the actuators? power, ground and data or power ground and solonoid?
2. if its solonoid then what are the repercussions of manually triggering the solonoid?
3. if its data then what cpu controls the actuators? if it is the main enging control unit then ktuner might be able to find the registers to control it. if its a brake management system of some sort then we might be in deeper than finacially feasible to go further. unless someone wants to make a device for inturrupting and modifying the signal.
