I wish I waited for second year model.
Way to many issues. Have had the car in
About 8 times now for different problems.

Love the car overall though looks great inside and out, nice power from the 1.5 turbo and handles well.

Too many!
My only regret is not negotiating for 15k miles a year. I drive 20-25k a year, so at only 12k a year allowed, it only allows me to drive 1k a month. In the 7 weeks I have owner the car, I have already put 3k. I am stuck driving my spare car to offset the miles x3.
Not sure if Honda does it but I have leased Toyotas for 18k per year. I also drive multiple cars so I can offset miles, but sometimes its nice just to have one car you can take anywhere.

Thats why part of me just wants to get a 2016 carmy se and call it a day. I just been a die hard honda fan since 98. Im looking for reliability. I just really love the way the new civic looks and drives..

Damn. That's bad luck. For whatever reason, I feel like the minutiae that were bothering me before have kind of disappeared over time. Like, I've had no infotainment issues for months, but had an issues once a week at the beginning. Only true "issue" I have is the subwoofer rattle, but it's not terrible IMO.

Only thing I semi-regret is the color. This is my first dark car, keeping it clean is just a bitch. Almost wish I went for MSM or Aegean Blue.

Theres something about the civic that keeps me going to it.. I already have husky all weather floor liners. I love. The touring model.. Whats going to happen is my old cars going to die and im going to be out a 1000.00 down payment and be stuck on the road.

Honestly dude, people keep saying this but issues happen to anybody. I literally had to have my entire 1.5t engine replaced. All these other issues don't even come close to the car literally dying and being taken away from me for 3 weeks. I still love this car.

Head unit fucks up every once in a while but I've dealt with so many phones in the last two years in used to software glitches. The rattle is annoying, but my solution is patience until I feel like spending 20 bucks on dynamat and some time to roll something onto it. Other than that my touring is flawless, despite having a heart transplant. My main car will be a honda for the foreseeable future. Camrys are ugly (sorry lol).

You're posting a thread to get reasons not to buy the car. I've known people who have been blown up by IEDs and they love their life. I've seen people in these forums who have an extra noise coming from a subwoofer, and now they want to watch Honda burn in hell. Despite this the Civic is STILL out selling all other compacts. I think we'd all be a little bit crazy to believe that marketing teams from other car companies aren't hiring people to bash the civic at this point.

If I could take back time I'd seriously consider getting a Corvette instead, but I really need something economical and reliable.

Yep, i would absolutely buy my Touring again. Ive had some minor issues: Erratic rain sensing wipers, CVT surging, subwoofer rattle, a bug here and there with the head unit. The good things about this car far outweigh the minor annoyances. One thing i will admit I kind of regret though is my colour choice. Kinda wishing i went with Aegean Blue instead of black.
Mine is Aegean Blue and has drawn a lot of attention. People come up to me asking about my Touring, and always remark on the colour.

I saw my first blue Touring on the road here in Ontario on my way to work last week. It looked like it had just been washed and looked very sharp. It caught my eye immediately. I love the way my black one looks but the upkeep is really annoying and with more and more 2016 Civics on the road (most of them black or white) it would have been nice to have a colour that stands out from the rest of the pack a little more. Surprisingly I haven't seen as many Modern Steels as I thought i would. Aside from Aegean Blue, its probably the colour I see the least.

First off, the forums are where all possible problems are reported. I have a Miata and i30 and can't just browse the forums (both have excellent, active forums) because it makes me think my car is going to explode with all of the issues. You don't realize that often the problems are often very rare.

There are a large number of "small" issues with the first year Civic. I say small because its not like reading about the Focus or whatever and reading people where their engines shutdown while driving or wouldn't shift or whatever. Yes, the Civic had a problem with the Snap Ring, but from what I've read, the number of people that actually have the problem are very, very small. I don't own the Civic (yet), but my understanding is that a lot of these issues have been addressed. Software updates for the CVT for the surging, HondaLink issue, etc. Yes, AA needs to evolve (although you'd have those same issues in the Accord) and there are still issues (like the mentioned subwoofer rattle and crazy rain sensing wipers), but still nothing that makes me concerned enough to not buy a 2017 model. I'm sure by the 2018 model, reliability will be completely tops.

As also mentioned, it's tough to beat a no-deductible, 120k, 8 year bumper-to-bumper for $1,000 to cover any doubts.

Put it this way, something like the boring Corolla will always be more reliable with its traditional tech but it lacks the excitement of the Civic. Honda is pretty close to having the issues nailed down now.

Got a blue Touring and...even with the nit-picky problems (amp goes blank, rattle in subwooffer, learning curve on LKA and Avoidance system...all fixable) I can unequivocally say this is the best car I have ever owned or likely ever will (I am 72).

Guys (and gals) think of a car you dreamed of as a kid and then adult; you wanted 0 to 60 in "quick" and gas mileage in the 30's, right? Mine goes to 60 in 6.9 seconds and gets 41.7 on the highway. That ALONE...should seal the deal. Just the other day on route 86 near Elmira some dude pulls out in front of me in the 4-lane passing lane. Of course, my laser cruise handled it but I was pissed. Rather than hang around, I waited for him to duck in and then I goosed it up to 105 mph. Exhilarating! And, the good news was that when I looked back he/she was very small in my mirror and nothing to deal with for the next "n" miles. Yay!

I do craft shows in my retirement years and wifey and me load up the goods (oneamishcarpenter.com) and cruise to a 200 mile craft show every other week. I can't tell you what a restful drive results from the lane keep assist and the laser cruise. I am literally "refreshed" from the experience rather than dog tired.

Leather smells great, blue is awesome, tracks and handles like a wanna-be sports car, quiet as can be. I am hooked. Can't think of any other car I'd rather have and that includes all the Beemers, Jags, Mercs, etc. In its class...IT BLOWS EVERYTHING AWAY!

Advice: Don't worry about the small stuff; enjoy the good stuff. While the honeymoon may be over for some, my blue Touring gets me hard every day (sorry for the visual, grandpa and such) :)

I really love the new civic. I test drove the ext and the touring models more then once. I am also a honda fan since the late 90's. I have a old 03 civic which is not doing to well. I really need a car now but I keep reading about problems with the new civic. From sunroofs not working, surgeing, raido going black, ect... just alot of problems. I understand its a new model but i had a 2001civic and 2003 accord when it first came out and no problems.

My question is if you could take back time would you still by the 2016 civic?

If the accord sport had a push button start and AA i would buy it in a heartbeat.
+++++++++++++
"If I could turn back time" (why do I link of Cher?) and a new S2000 existed, I'd purchase another one in a heartbeat... my '04 S2000 was stolen in 2010 :( , very sad day indeed.
Like our '16 Civic, but loved the '04 S2K!!!

I'm really not keen on the push button start. I have a 2016 Odyssey, and I'd rather have the old key mechanism. On top of that, I can't check the door handles (to be sure the car's locked) without placing the key a few yards away and coming back, since it'll automatically unlock otherwise.

I'm wondering what happens on some of these auto-open rear doors touted on TV, if a cat or dog wanders by (the "feature" is where you wave your foot underneath). Cold the rear door open and crash into a wall or pole behind you?
