You need rear brakes already? That doesn't sound right. If the car has been sitting I can understand some flash rusting on the rotors that would cause some noise during the first few stops but if you are under a year and less than 20,000 km and you've performed the recommended services (i.e. brake servicing) you could be covered under warranty but I would speak with your service advisor for the final word.

As for the rear suspension sound, give Honda some time to figure it out. It's obviously a Si specific issue and Honda as with any manufacturer relies on the number of customer complaints to determine whether to develop a TSB or update so make sure that you bring the car in and have it looked at even if there isn't a fix or the parts that were supplied don't fix it. Remember the dealer can only fix the car with parts that are available from the manufacturer.

The brakes are a common problem too. I’ve put a ton of miles on, but it’s 90% highway so not much braking. Involved. Dealer told me it’s a wear item

Actually I stock rear pads and rotors for the Si and I haven't sold a single set since May 2017. It's possible that there are much more Civic Si models on the road in your area as compared to mine. I'm just looking at my data. On a side note it's -17C here and I didn't hear noise when I went out for lunch. This morning -25C and it was noisy but that's extremely cold and not typical for our area.

My VIN is in the range covered by the bulletin. Is this worth doing or will it return in the same conditions
The fix in the TSB does nothing, you'll have the problem again.
If I'm not mistaken they removed that TSB because it didn't fix the problem.

Has anybody tried removing the rear strut nut cap I pointed out in my last post?

Also if your VIN is out of the affected range it already has the updated parts.

My deal applied a service bulletin last year (i don’t recall the number) it works for 1 winter but the noise is back again this winter.
I told it to my dealer who said that honda have no solution for it.
I guess we are in the same situation as with the oil dilution where honda did not recognize the issue until several customers start to complaint on the social network.
It’s just shame that Honda is not acting proactively

How exactly did you get to yours to remove it?

I was driving around today and boy do all my bushings sound like crap. I'm guessing that's what the sounds are. I heard it front and back over bumps. Sounds like what I'm assuming a track car would sound like on the street. Thanks Honda.

I’ve had the same issue in mine couple days ago until I washed my car. I did a light kick on the back of my bumper and found a huge chunk of ice snow, since then I haven’t heard a clunk. I’m done Toronto. I guess the snow built up behind the bumper after the big snow fall we had.

I cleared out all the snow and leave it in a garage that melts it all. Ive had cars with many aftermarket suspensions and this is deff coming from the rear struts. Wondering if I should just take it in just to have honda see one more person added to the list, especially since Ive read somewhere they added new parts to the car and mine is no different than the 17-18.

Maybe that's why they added a volume knob, to turn up the music easier to muffle the suspension noise and rattles hah.

Right now we just have to deal with it. Look at the bright side, at least we are dealing with carbon issues in engines like other manufacturers are struggling with. I'll take the clunking.

Yes, We DO have to deal with it, with a Class Action Suit!

After (supposedly) having the rear suspension replaced, I had the clunking come back as soon as the temp went below freezing. I had a LONG conversation with the head of CS, who I know, as well as the head mechanic where I bought my car.

Either they are all toeing the line when it comes to saying that they don't know what the solution is, or they REALLY don't know.

This isn't acceptable. The way to deal with it is to take them to task! To demand they address, and permanently fix the problem.

It worked when I needed my motherboard replaced when they claimed they didn't know what we were all talking about.

I got a new (yet still flawed, because they didn't change anything) laptop! But at least I got a new computer...

Anyone want to start this bitch up?

I receive a message today from my dealer's service center. They have been working with a Honda field engineer on this issue. I told them I would not accept their initial response of, it is a characteristic of the car. This was after they replaced the rear shocks for me. They said they are working with Honda; "it is currently under investigation and they are trying to get approval to replace with a different or redesign the upper strut mount". i asked him about time frame. He said it was in the infancy of the investigation as "they just came across the issue recently during winter testing in Canada". I called them out on that stating it has been around since 2017 hence the TSB associated with it. He said they were only referencing the 2019 model year.

We will see
