Car looks alright but also a bit prius-ish in a bad way. Headlight setup is no question better than the Civic's (especially the halogens) and the interior is pretty nice aside from the tablet sticking out of the dash which looks horrible. I also like the twin exhaust setup they have, finishes off the rear end well. All of this is great BUT, I seriously doubt it has the driving dynamics of the Civic. If I were to take a lightly optioned Civic Sedan vs. A Comparably equipped Corolla Sedan, I'd have a hard time believing the car handles and grips the road as nice as the Civic. I've obviously never driven one but just by knowing Toyota I have a feeling the Civic still drives better.

Judging by the massive improvement this has had over the last generation, I feel like it's going to easily give the Civic a run for it's money in sales and I wouldn't at all be surprised if it overtook it in sales as well. Honda seriously screwed up by not using the Civic's refresh as an opportunity to give it standard LED headlights, better exhaust setup, and not giving the car an all new infotainment system. We'll see how it does though, i'll probably drive one just for fun eventually just to see how it compares to my Civic.

Meh. I think it looks like a Prius. I like the front end of the base model better than the sport model.

If this title is coming from TFL Car it is probably nonsense. They are absolutely some of the worst big-time auto reviewers out there.

Either way, I'm sure it's a decent car but it seems to lack the passion of the Civic. Agree it looks extremely FWD with the short stubby front-end.

At least it has a multilink unlike the new Mazda3.

Yeah I gave up on the Jetta when they cheaped-out on the last generation. The new one apparently is still a bit cheap feeling. The GLI I'm sure is nice but I really dislike the looks of the Jetta.

Hence why I have my Civic :)

Seeing I drive a Touring I would have to compare options. Not sure the Corolla can match the Touring options?
Power Seats
Auto Dim Headlights
Subwoofer

Nothing is perfect. But I refuse to not have the above after having them.

Interesting... Had a Corolla in the past and neither power seats or auto dimming headlights. I guess much has changed. Actually, had several Corollas. But in 2019 was what I was comparing. Went to Civic. Past vehicles, Mini Cooper & BMW.

Yeah all of the things you mentioned are offered by most cars these days. The main areas where the Civic usually kills the competition is the fact that it offers decent reliability in a fuel efficient and fun to drive package. Many competitors offer some of those things, but not all.

While it may be a nice package for mainstream buyers, Toyota lacks any hint of sportiness in basically their entire lineup. The new Corolla is no exception. The 10th gen Civic platform of all trims has the sporty credibility percolating down from the CTR.

The new Corolla sedan has now been released to the press to test. There are many reviews out there now. Here is Redline's :

My mom has a corolla. She's on her second actually. The first had 290k when she got rid of it. I think it needed $800 in repairs and she was just ready for something new. They are fantastic in terms of utility. I wouldn't buy one though. If you just need something a-b the corolla is great, but if you want a little fun in your a-b the civic is the car to have. Plus the civic is larger and IMO has a nicer interior.
