2016 Honda Civic, Car will trigger itself to start to accessory mode, turning on headlights, wipers (if switch is on), and sometimes triggering the alarm system when locked and armed. All scenarios tried below, vehicle will respond the same.

Honda Dealer unable to diagnose the issue. Diagnostics is convinced the issue is due to having both keyless fobs in the vehicle, but issue began 3 weeks and continued consistently prior to carrying the second key for backup assurance so I wouldnt't be stranded if it were a key issue

Variations tried to eliminate trigger, no differences occur - car SELF TRIGGERS TO ACCESSORY MODE.

--- 1 key in vehicle
--- 2 keys in vehicle
--- Both keys in vehicle, one with battery removed
--- Both keys in vehicle, both batteries removed
--- NO KEYS in vehicle (close proximity)
--- NO KEYS in vehicle (over 50 feet from vehicle, in the house)

Under all circumstance, vehicle responds the same, triggering on the electronic system of the vehicle without pressing the push to start. I am forced to disconnect battery so the vehicle battery does not die or trigger to sound the alarm system everyday or night while not supervising activity. Gotten stranded a few times, and had to jump the car.

Any insight? Comments? Suggestions?

Possible root causes, but not suspected by Honda dealer tech.

Ignition switch
Fuses
Keyless entry fobs
Wiring/connections

At my ends here, dealer had the vehicle for over 3 hours, no solution found.

Just so I fully understand, What do you mean by "trigger itself"? Are you saying that the car just randomly comes on with all of it's electronics on? Does this happen only with the key fobs in the car or does it happen even when they are outside of the car?

Regardless though, this is a crazy problem and probably one of the most crazy i've seen on this forum. I feel like with a problem this serious, the dealership should take some responsibility and maybe give you a loaner car until they figure it out due to the severity. From what you are describing, the car is pretty much undriveable.

Hi Jred721,

Yeah just the electronics turn on by itself. It occurs both when I am in the vehicle, and when no keys are in the vehicle.
Several times I will go to my car and the system will be on, or the car will be dead and have to be jumped from being on without
me knowing. I'm currently disconnecting the battery.

This sounds like a huge issues.
I've got an ex-t coupe and have been noticing random dead battery problems.
(Especially since it got cold almost instantly over-night).
I had to go out to Harbor Freight and buy a Lithium Jump Pack for $80, today, cuz
I parked in downtown/"center city" for less than 2 hours and it was completely dead.
The car almost never completely drains unless I have my stereo and A/C full blast during a drive.
Lately, I've had the stereo volume at zero and run the heat on auto climate, so
there shouldn't be any draining issues.
What's even more concerning is my volt-meters all read 14.5 while I'm cruising.
I might be having the same issue as you, but
I've never actually caught the dash being on when I approach cuz my car has limo tint.

Noticed this week that when it rain, the electronics were acting the worst they had been. Dropped it off at the dealer. Hoping to have a resolve soon. Check out the video I posted on youtube -

you don't have to carry two keys. if 1 key stopped working there's a physical key inside the key fob there is a little switch on the back, push it over and pull the shinny silver partpout. for the push to start you just push the start button with the key fob. I hope they figure it out.

Damn that's crazy, something like that should honestly be covered by Honda because that is probably occuring due to no fault of your own. I would let them know that your issue is a priority because something like this hapoening on such a new car isnt acceptable.

Finally!! I found someone with the exact same issue I'm experiencing.

What (if any) solutions have you or Honda found?
My local dealership just wants me to bring it in and leave it for the week, but I just can't rely on their "shuttle" service to get me to work at 5am daily.. this is really a huge pain and I'm sure my neighbors are quite sick of the alarm going off multiple times per day (and night). Quick fix for now is that I disconnect the battery to keep the car from spontaneously entering accessory mode.

I have a case number with Honda America, they didn't seem to be in a hurry to find a solution to fix their car... it is a lease after all.

Just a shot-in-the-dark and a general question... Have you tried to disable the remote start (if you have it) and see if that makes a difference?

Gotcha'. Beyond any aftermarket electrical stuff or mods; I'm at a loss.

Good luck with it.

Thanks.
I have nothing aftermarket on the car. Honda has it now, just a waiting game...

Update -

It took a day and a half of Honda having the car, but it finally acted up and kept turning on to accessory and they were able to see exactly what I described to them and what OP said. That doesn't mean they know how to fix it however, all the data they've collected has been sent to the designer of the car itself to see how in the hell we're going to move forward.
