It's a shame that the wagon version of the new Corolla isn't coming to North America. The regular hatchback is hilariously crammed at the back.

Way Too exspensive for a n/a corolla needs to be 18,000 tops
You can get the base Corolla HB with manual trans. for $19.5 OTD. That too I tried in december, better pricing should be available now.

The Corolla is a missed opportunity, strap a turbo to that thing Toyota and you got yourself a game changer with the manual trans option.
Back in the 80s Toyota put a turbos on every thing even their pick up now they don’t
Now Honda went turbo

I am 5'11" and I could barely fit in the rear seat with my gf in the front seat (she's 5'5"). The rear legroom is rated at pathetic 29.9" while Civic HB has 36.0".
And the cargo space is just a joke. 18.0 cu.ft. compared to Civic's 25.7 cu.ft. (with rear seat up)
The lack of Android Auto was the true deal breaker for my gf though, she liked the Corolla HB's exterior design and power is fine to her.

Corollas have always been so "whatever" in my book (and probably most people's), but there's no denying it is a great car in terms of reliable, day-to-day transportation for those who don't care much about road feel and driving dynamics.

I've been in a few of the new Camrys, they feel so stout - Lexus-like in their solidity and quietness (and I'm not just saying that) - it's pretty incredible how far they've come versus the last generation.

That said, I don't bat an eye when I see new Corollas on the street. To me they're a nap on wheels.

I know sometimes people say the Civic is "unrefined," but we've come so far in terms of vehicle refinement in recent years - I don't mind a tad bit of rawness. In fact, the Si is absolutely more refined than the 2005 G35 Coupe I had way back when.

Toyota is actively trying to make their cars more sporty rather than bland by releasing things like the Avalon TRD and Camry XSE, etc. I would love to see them give the same treatment to the Corolla but maybe also maybe turbocharge the existing 2.0 engine and make it fall somewhere between the Si and CTR. Maybe offer it with a 6MT or a DCT to boost the sales numbers and they'll have a vehicle that should sell decently well. Doubt it would ever happen though.
