Hi,

The car has only 22km, so its brand new.

Today I have noticed some coolant come from 1 connection point only.

This picture was taken when the engine was cold:

Can I conclude the dealer added too much coolant?
Because from what I've read concerning the basics:
- coolant level in a cool engine should be at minimum level.
- coolant level in an engine on temperature should be at max level.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 1st picture show the coolant at max level? or is the top line the real max level?

What brings me to another issue, if there is too much coolant, the excess tube would do the job of removing all the excess coolant...but it leaks at a specific connection that has nothing to do with the excess tube....

So last Monday they juste a Jubilee clip to tight down the rubber hose, meanwhile there is a new hose and clip available, so it can be swapped.

No real reason why it leaked, but we suspect its a bad hose that didnt seal well?

Anyway no leaks now with the old hose and Jubilee clip, when we are in the neighbourhood we will change the tube, but for now all is well!

This does make me wonder, what if....we didnt notice the leak in the first place and we kept on driving...
Either we will be losing so much coolant over time that the light will come on, and than what? the engine bay will be a mess full of coolant?
If I am informed right, coolant works as a trigger for corrosion on the outside?

So when riding such a long time with a leaking coolant hose, the engine bay will not be looking alright, to say the least?
Am I lucky to have seen this leak early on than?

You're definitely lucky to catch this sooner. If you kept driving, it wouldn't have been detrimental but could have definitely caused some complications. Glad you got it fixed though, although I don't get why a hose would leak like that in a new car.

indeed, the mystery continues...bad batch of hoses?
When googling civic + coolant leak, all I find are owners with also very low mileage...

Just a quick update, forgot to take pictures of the new parts, but the dealer replaced the hose, the clip and the reservoir under warranty.
Did a long trip today and afterwards I saw all is good.

So problem fixed!
