Still haven't figured mine out lol. Really hoping it's just some plastic or something I can tape up but so hard to reproduce except when I run the car in the morning..

If you look on Amazon you can buy a Auto Stethoscope for cheap. Rattles are hard to diagnose. Hopefully it is easy to access and add some foam (door) insulation. Without the stethoscope I would think it comes from some other place. Have the wife or friend drive the car and you listen. Press on the dash. Any better?

Extreme and not safe. Can you remove the rattle with someone driving while pressing under the dash? Meaning you are on the passenger side head under the dash and feet on the head rest of the passenger seat. I have done this before even used a stethoscope from my daughters doctor kit. Rattles drive me nuts.

I think the plastic near the center tunnel may be the source of the problem. I checked with my wife today and to our surprise the rattle can be heard in the vicinity of the upper cockpit, but it turns out that the stronger resonance is here ... Since the initial diagnosis and the attempt to suppress - silence.

Hi,
first, sorry for my bad english.

But have the same annoying rattle in my TypeR in Germany around 2500 rpm.

After many days of checks/tests with this Dashboard rattle its definitivly something in/around the heater core.

Lifting up the Heater Core on passenger side turns up the noise.
Opposite On Driverside, lift up / pressure to front...silence or lesser noise.
Thats my fix/result ( Picture ) in my case.

In my opinion, there is enough clearance on the Top of the Heater Core + toward the cowl, no Cable, Venttunnels etc. that could be the source of this noise.

Resonance/Vibration is something with the Core. Twisting the Core reduced the rattle substantially.

The Core ist very stabel, this little rubber surely did not twist the housing, but change the ressonance.

i hope so the rattle stays silence/quietly as now.

Hopefully somebody find someday a final solution.
A new entire Core cannot the solution ( new rattles ) , in my opinion its a design problem in this Car.

Its surely a little thing, but hard to find.

people effected by this need to read this https://www.civicx.com/threads/my-2017-hatchback-dash-rattle-thread.9082/page-6#post-389671
CivicChina had pictures of where to stick foam in the heater core. I can't find the pictures but maybe message him for them. It's easy to access the heater core after you remove the trim behind the glove box. I followed his direction and it solved my rattle.

Since then I dumped the Civic. I did receive money from Honda after all the failed repair attempts from two dealers. Probably the last time I'll log in here. But message CivicChina he had instructions that fixed the rattle. Good luck everyone

im send a message to CivicChina...hope he is still active
im also removed the glovebox etc. , same as CivicChina in his Picture/Threadlink, but couldt find the rattle source.

my intention was also to stick in a little foam quickly , than in all my cars over many year ( every car has his rattles ) but this rattle resists me very strong :what:

I'm pretty sure it was this area. You will need pretty long needle nose pliers to insert foam in there

Here I am. I reply here so everybody can see.
My car had 2 main source of rattles:
1- both A-pillar covers, which i removed and isolated the edges with electric tape and adhesive foam. problem solved.
2- heather core, it used to rattle from the center of the dash at around 2000 rpm. I removed the glove box, the bottom cover and the air duct for the passenger foot well and i put the same adhesive foam to fill the gap between the heater core case and a plastic bulkhead that is inside for unknown functions.Problem solved. You can find the picture in an old post.

I also have other (very minor) noises did not fix: front passenger seat has a bit of vibrations when i engage the clutch, only when i start the car in the morning for 2-3 times, and the sunroof clicks sometimes on bumps when tilted. I just close and open again and the noise goes away.

Here’s the video
I have a 2019 Civic Hatchback Ex with 366 miles on it and it has a rattle/buzzing similar to your car. The buzzing/rattle is coming from the Ambient Light Sensor that's right on the dash by the windshield in the center. Reach with your hand and tap it and move it. You'll be surprise to find that it sits in it's socket very loosely and rattles/buzzes! Put some tape over it and drive your car and the rattle should be gone. I did this and it worked. I went to my Honda dealer today and explained the problem to the service representative. In an hour, the Tech wrapped tape/foam around the ambient light sensor and my rattle/buzzing noise went away. See my video which shows the problem,

This might've fixed it for me. Will have to see if it works since my rattle comes and goes randomly. The sensor is very easy to pop up, just stick something in the crack and gently pry up. I taped a small piece of foam tape in there and plopped it back down so its not wiggling as much.

Really hope it works, been dealing with this for 2 years.

I had a rattle in the center dash area in my 2019 Honda Civic HB Ex. I found the Ambient Light Senor was loose and causing the rattle. See my video My Honda dealer fixed the Ambient Light Sensor with foam tape. Now, the rattle is gone!

I just pryed out the ambient sensor and wrapped some foam tape around it. I am excited to test it out tomorrow to see if that eliminates the rattle that has been driving me nuts for the past two years.
