I went and looked a used 2017 CTR with 8000 miles today. It originally sold in Michigan/Illinois but was eventually traded into a dealer in Tennessee and sold at auction to my local dealer in FL, according to the CarFax.

Dealer is asking $34.9k, it has no installed options except tint. The car had a smelly funk to it for sure, not really sure how to describe it other than a sour-y, kind of body odor stink. The passenger side door also has a 1 inch scratch into the paint. I didn't see any curb rash on the rims.

Any insight as to what a fair offer would be for those of you who bought used?

Consider this: I'm trading in a flawless 2015 Si with 58,000 all Florida driven miles (no snow). The vehicle is 100% OEM. I'm the original owner, bought it new with 10 miles on it.

Can I get into this thing for $30k? That is about all I am willing to offer. Any more and I feel like I should just spring for a new CTR and skip the damage, stink, unknown driver history, and get knobs on my screen.

Thanks

What the dealer is asking is ridiculous. Even for 30K I would skip this how you are describing. I got my 2019 SGP for 500 over MSRP and I am sure I could have found one for MSRP had I looked a little bit longer but I didn't want to miss out on my first choice color. With the trade, I would say go for a new 2019 for MSRP and not worry about the headaches of a used car.

I doubt you can get it for 30 given the market is all around the mid 30s. Having said that I'd much rather buy a new '19 at MSRP.

Dealer wot move. Just saw a ā€˜17 with 24000 miles and looked rough sell for same price. I wouldnā€™t pay over $30k either. At that point though Iā€™d find a dealer that will sell a new at MSRP.

I bought a used 2017 Type R sight unseen from out of state. It had 6,100 miles. I had it transported on an open trailer from Utah to Colorado in sub zero winter weather. It has a few cosmetic flaws (some small scratches and swirls, one wheel had a tiny amount of rash), but the interior is pretty much perfect. Any car that has been driven won't be perfect and I didn't expect perfection. In fact, it's kinda nice that I don't have to worry about the first scratch since it already has a couple. Lol. If you want perfect then buy new. If you want to save some time and money then buy used. It's your money at and you should spend it how you want. Buying used might be the easiest way to get the color you want depending on what you can find new. I personally think $34.9k is a fair price (even with the little things wrong with it).

good luck on your hunt. deff look into buying one new for msrp as its only 2-3grand more than what they are asking for that used one.

I wouldn't let the fact that it hit auction deter you , there was plenty of reasons why a car would be auctioned that has nothing to do with sketch. That said, I think that price is too high.

I bought a 17 with 10k on it for 32,9 and it was a Honda CPO and absolutely dead mint.

Auction cars bad? Your dream cars are bunched together in something called Highline sales.
