I will probably post some photos of the scratch tomorrow as it's super late right now, but the gist is that the dr color chip kit ONLY does the base coat. When I asked them they said it matches the factory OEM paint 100% and I thought that ought includes the pearl-ish shiny looks.

However the base coat matches up pretty well. I compared it to the surface without the cc or pearl layer(inside the door panel or under the trunk lid) and they look the same. So I'm hoping a layer of pearl coat on top of it will make it a bit yellower or milkier if that makes sense. I'm just too OCD to ignore the difference on the rest of the car with 3-4 layers of base+pearl+clearcoat vs the chipped area with only base coat touched up :(

I just ordered a kit on amazon that comes with both the mid coat(pearl) and clear coat. I'm probably not gonna use the clear coat since I messed the clear coat up pretty badly when I was touching up my previous car. I will follow up with how the pearl coat looks when the kit arrives.

Sorry to necro but how did this turn out? Got a chip in my rear quarter panel and want to fix it asap. I was hoping Dr Colorchip would match well, sounds like it doesn't...
