The side markers I ordered from Amazon don't appear to want to go in the holes where the grey plastic connectors go into. I noticed the difference between my yellow OEM and this clear markers are how the bulb housing are angled. I see other clear markers, Honda's OEM included, that they are parallel to the longer side of the marker and not the shortest. My yellow OEM is parallel to the shortest side. Here are some photos for reference.

I noticed the angling of this is important as there is another layer of metal inside that the clear markers couldn't clear, pun intended.

Does everyone's have this extra metal inside their R? Can your aftermarket markers clear this? If so, can you link me one that will clear this obstacle? If you have 2017/18, perhaps if I could get some photos of your OEM yellow markers and the inside of the holes? I appreciate those who do as this may be another 2019 change worth knowing.

Thank you.

So our OEMs are the same then. Can you link me the Depo ones you got? Or perhaps a photo of the unit that was shipped to you?

I have the iJDMToy side marker and Cuztom Tuning side marker both from Amazon and both have this problem. (There are really only two or three manufacturers of these replacements if you look at them closely). You'll see people talk about it in previous sidemarker threads and it is not an issue on the Si or other Civic trims. On the R the clip opening in your photo and the wiring harness are very tight fits. You have to install differently than with other Civics: You will find that you can install it without the socket in place. Install the sidemarker first, then put the socket into the sidemarker and turn to lock from behind the bumper (behind the splash guard).

It sounds like I'm either going to have to take off the bumper or pull the splash guard pretty hard if I want to keep using this replacement. As you indicated, the tight fitting IMHO, may bring up some unwanted concerns in the future about how it could loosen the rubber seal around the bulb housing and the marker itself. I think I'll just switch to the Depo one referenced by @tomcxb as much as I don't want the cross hatch look (though it might help with diluting the white LEDs not blinding people).

Pop two or maybe three of the fasteners around the marker for enough space to put your hand in. Any marker brand is going to have trouble with the shortness of the wiring harness, I scratched my paint a bit trying to wedge the marker in with the socket attached. It's mostly the geometry of getting it installed, otherwise I don't see any ongoing issues.

Waiting for an answer from iJDMToy if their unit still ship with this.

I have a 2018 model and there is another issue with fitting: the JDM versions of the side marker are thinner than the US OEM ones, so there is a small hole between the inner fender and outside body where snow/rain can get thru to the light and inner body

Just had the Optix branded ones installed on my 2018. They are smoke w/white LED when lights are on and yellow/orange when turn signaling. Very pleased with the look, fitment and functionality.

How hard is it to slice through the existing wiring for the added functionality? I kinda find it nerve wrecking lol. Also, do you have any moisture/fitment issues on your unit? There seems to be a lot of complaints prior to 2018, so just wanting to see if their quality had improved.
