I’ve always done the typical “bolt-ons” but nothing on this car yet- I’ve tinted the windows and blacked the chrome. All I wanted was the prl cobra and downpipe. But I kept reading about clutch slippage. I trade cars every couple years. I’ve resold bolt ons many of times and recovered some money. But a grand for a clutch I’ll never get back is a no go.

I do not have extensive plans to modify the car. So far I've put yellow fog light lens covers, tinted the windows, and changed to a Skunk2 shift knob. I may modify the accelerator pedal mount to improve heel-toe position, but otherwise I'd like to avoid heavy mods and keep a reliable daily driver. I'll probably get an extra set of wheels for summer/winter tires and leave it at that.

My previous cars I would put so much time and money into, just to end up with something less comfortable and less reliable. I bought this (my first new car) to be reliable and simple. Eventually I'll add another project to the stable to satisfy the mod itch.

I'm the same at least for cars that don't excite me as much. The longest I've ever kept a car was a mint 1987 BMW 325e with LSD, E30 M3 EVO seats (the recaro's the type R of the 90's got too) Kosei K1's R888's, H&R sport OE springs, and MarkD 93 octane tuning chip ended up selling it for 12k. . Car had 240LBS of torque at 3k RPM. Kept it for 6 years. This Honda SI.. Meh, at 18 months now, few more to 24 and looking at something RWD next

The RS was my dream car back in HS, though I'd still love to get my hands on one and build/track the shit out of it. How'd you like it, and what happened to it?
I had it for 3 years and sold it with 75k miles on it. I think it's still around in South or North Carolina last I saw.
It was a really fun car to autocross! It held up to 2 seasons of abuse really well.

Wow! Nice car you kept quite a while. I haven’t had anything over 2 years probably in 20 years now. It’s a disease but it’s the one material thing I really enjoy. Had one rear wheel car, ‘91 mustang gt long ago now and I was dangerous in it. Love the 2 series but just can’t swallow the payment.

Honda Civic 10th gen How many do NOT mod their Si what-so-ever??? 18399641

Er... honestly no. I bought it with the intention of modding it from day 1. It's a small engine and I don't have any interest in making to too wild, 200 whp/liter is probably my end-game comfort mark. It's a cheap car (generally speaking) and I felt comfortable letting it burn the candle at both ends a bit. If it dies... it dies. The junkyards will slowly fill with variants of the L15B7 from the Civics, Accords and CRVs. I have a feeling that parts will be very easy to acquire as the 10 gen raps up after a half decade run or so. While the Si is ok stock, it suffers badly from it's software induced turbo lag, it's slow rev falls which because of the heavy 2-piece flywheel is made worse by the software induced slow throttle close for emissions. The torque limiting nature prevents the car from reaching the advertised boost targets, rarely cracking much more than 17-18 psi (I never saw higher than this). Had the above issues not existed, I probably would have been slower to get a reflash... but they made me do it pretty rapidly. Even a 21# basemap with quick enables checked and quick spool enabled is a pretty happy spot to be in from a basemap vs reflash spot.

Whether you're happy with the car is all that really matters though. If you're content with the car in it's stock form, there's nothing at all wrong with that.

Funny you mentioned the Mustang GT. I just picked one up over the weekend! 19' GT with 401a, fully loaded, upgraded wheels, active exhaust, 1000watt sound system, minus performance pack and a with manual trans. They gave me 21k for my SI with 22k miles and the GT was discounted about 9500. 48k car for 38k even.

As far as modding this one. Don't have to. And doubt I will keep it long enough to do suspension mods or even take it to the track. So saved myself the money on Performance pack .

I think we share the same kind of disease lol

I am in the same boat. The longest I've owned a vehicle is two years . If I am able to afford a vehicle that I feel will be an upgrade, then I will go ahead and purchase it. I never get attached to vehicles. I feel it is an expensive curse.

Nice!! Looked at those a few times and sat em more than once as there’s a ford dealer close by. Never drove one as I knew what that would mean...love the rear of em and damn, that interior has come such a long way..congrats!!

Yes, an f-in curse!! Runs in my family...lots of money gone!! BUT, I don’t eat out all the time and blow money on clothes the latest gadgets etc...just the car and I keep it reasonable as in an Si and not the 2 series or Lexus IS 350 or the Audi A3....So, while it’s an addiction, I can say I’ve never had a high car payment. We get all the fun and only miss the big payment, some comfort, and prestige, imo

Hey guys. Dont want to start a new thread for a stupid question so maybe someone here can hopefully help out: what is the oem part number of the Si MAF? I was going to install a PRL intake on my CRV '19 (RW2, L15BY) and did not know if I should go for the non-Si or the Si street MAF. A guy I found on youtube installed a PRL cobra and claimed that he used the Si version. After contacting PRL, they told me that my MAF (part 37980-5BA-A01)is identical to the non-Si.

I tried to find the Si oem part# without success. On honda-parts-now I chose various civic editions including the Si, and my part number seems to fit the Si AND other civic versions excluding the "2018 Civic 5 door LX". I live in the EU so I m not familiar with North American editions. We do not get the Si variant here. Only the Civic hatch/sedan, both equipped with 1.5T 182hp.

Bottom line: is there by any chance anyone who knows the OEM Si MAF part # so I can compare it to mine?PRL cant be sure and they are not obliged to be to be honest since they havent tested their products on my model.

Sorry for bombing the thread. I really want to get into tuning the car, besides I ve owned 2 Type-Rs in the past but unfortunally I have to drive a SUV now...! Sorry again and thanks in advance!

Didn't look at mine, but it looks like the sensor for the Si is 37980-5BA-A01.

You can scroll down and see the list of vehicles this crosses over to, including the Si.

I saw the same thing, whats confusing is that it seems that this MAF fits to the Si AND non-Si models while all aftermarket intakes have different MAF housings for Si models. I ll guess I ll roll the dice and go for the Si version. If that doesnt do and the CEL is lit, I ll buy a non-Si housing from PRL. Hope they sell them individually!

In any case thanks for any assistance. This is a great community with lots of information sharing!

To answer the original question: I've just done cosmetic things like a trunk liner (my son has baseball gear usually covered in red dirt), tinted the windows, and LED low beams. I might get some seat covers because I drive my car to and from the gym so I don't want the seats to get funky. I have no plans on doing anything else to the car. Someone recently wrote that every mod comes with some kind of compromise and from the short time I've been on this forum, that seems to be the case with tuners. It seems like there are a lot of of questions and concerns about sensors, warranties, etc. from the use of tuners.

Also, when I hear how some people drive these cars, I wonder about the safety of others on the roads. The way some people talk about driving their cars, you'd think they'd be on a racetrack. But like I've posted before, to each his own because some people understand these cars much better than I. For me, I like the car just the way it is and believe that it's tuned the way it is for a reason. I also don't want to be nervous that something I've done will screw me if and when I need warranty work.

In reading thru this whole thread, I just keep thinking about sticking with mostly visual mods only like wheels, tires, maybe a BBK upfront, rear sway bar, eibach prokit for a slightly stiffer ride and less wheel gap. I got my HID's installed, gonna do the yellow fogs at some point, maybe a shift knob.

Point is, all that stuff is reversible, and wont kill my clutch earlier than normal... since I don't beat on the car.
I'd love to tune for more power but I may as well by the clutch right off the bat instead of prolonging the inevitable.
I'm still not sold on that idea....the only mod I want that's under the hood is a PRL SRI for turbee noises LOL.
