Nice job. I think it looks really good. How do you like the sound? Stock front pipe and down pipe?
Sound is similar if not quieter then stock with the factory front and down pipe. I do plan to upgrade these and the type r exhaust does a much better job at keeping things quiet then the stock SI does with fp/dp.

Actually was looking at doing the same with a catless dp fp from prl. Lot of people said it's really quiet. But I decided to roll with the catted version. Really hard to get the type r exhaust. I don't mind the HDMI tip, I guess it's grown on me.

Because of the sedan being longer than the type r, Does anyone know if it's possible instead if getting the type r tips extended for the sedan I can have the mid pipe extended because I picked up a type r exhaust cut in half at the mid pipe section. Or do the tips need the extension because of the spacing in the rear? Anyone who has done this & can answer this I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Yeah but don't do it. You won't be able to use the hangers. Just the tip ;)

Not worth their time and money is why. Haven't you noticed they only build exhaust for the high end models of each car brand. Would be kind of a waste to purchase their exhaust system from the FK8 since it comes with downpipe and frontpipe too which won't bolt onto non Type R's. You'd have to modify the exhaust portion but can't utilize the DP and FP.

Hello civicx,

I have seen a few post on here about members putting the Stock FK8 CTR exhaust on there SI sedan and a few Sport Hatchbacks.

I have not seen any posts on the type r exhaust on an SI coupe, So heres the first.

The CTR exhaust is the correct length and does not need any part of it shortened or extended.

The sedans need the tip extended.
The exhaust did need all the hangers relocated.
This is an affordable and easy task for any muffler shop.
I simply purchased a 6 pack of 3/8" hangers off ebay.
I started by removing all the hangers of the factory type r exhaust.
I bolted the type r exhaust up to the front pipe and supported the exhaust with stands.
The hanger in between the resonators needs to be relocated back a few inches.
I simply cut and bent a new hanger and welded it to the exhaust pipe.

Continuing our way back, I removed the bracket/hangers just before the muffler.
Again I cut, bent, and welded new hangers to the factory chassis hanger location.
The hangers on the mufflers you have two options.
Option1
I have seen other users use the factory muffler hangers and weld a new hanger on to there frame rails.
I did not like this idea. I wanted the least amount of modification to the chassis as possible. I also wanted the exhaust to be easily reversible.

Option2
I decided to weld hangers on to the muffler and use the factory mount.
this required making a few bends on the hanger. This may also not look as good, but to me its better then the look of welding to your frame rail.

Finally the rear most mounts.
I choose to cut these off the car. Although it was not necessary the exhaust does get close to potential hitting the hanger. And with this being a auto x car, the exhaust may travel up and down harder then daily use. It also looks cleaner with the two hooks gone. A very easy reinstallation if required.

Here are some more photos of the fitment.
Dont mind the muddy tires. drive way to the shop was soaked from the last 4 days of non stop rain

I hope this is helpful.

Did you use the whole R exhaust with 2 resonators or you use the Si single resonator and did some cutting?? Trying to get a better understanding on what to do and keep a good sound

Same lol, just saw this topic but this is my biggest question. A lot of CTR owners dislike how weak the exhaust is... looks cool, yes, but sounds like ass.
