I'm wondering if flashing the ECU while I have a Maintenance Minder notification on (oil change needed) will reset the MM? I don't want the MM to reset because I don't want to lose track of the oil life. So if flashing does reset the MM, I won't flash the car until after I get an oil change.

Interesting question. When I flashed it didn’t reset my trip odometers so I wouldn’t think it would mess with the maintenance minders.

Thanks guys, I just flashed the ECU for the first time and can confirm that it did not change my Maintenance Minder notification.

As a side note, I've been reading that people who run a tuned and/or modded car should be getting oil changes earlier than indicated. What's the reason behind that?

I guess I am the exception, when I flashed the ECU, my Maintenance Minder reset from 50% oil life remaining back to 100%. Super annoying.

There'd be more to this scenario since it doesn't reset that, as confirmed above by multiple sources.

I'm getting the MM, the little yellow-colored wrench icon light on my dash, but I only have 'bout 5,800 miles while my owners manual indicated the first service is not called for until I hit 7,500 miles ? So I dunno should I schedule service now or wait 'till 7,500 ?

There is no 7,500 mile maintenance anymore. The MM will pop up based on your driving conditions/driving style. Get the service done soon. :)

Depending how you flash it will do the following

If you

load map to ktuner dongle and then flash with Tunerwiev it will preserve oil interval

flash map directly from PC to car it will reset oil interval.

I also do not like this as this is also required procedure for resetting it back to factory tune and unlocking ktuner when you prep your can for visit to a dealer / scheduled service

When I purchased this vehicle in Dec., 2017 the documentation they gave me included a "service maintenance Booklet" and the first milestone for service explicitly says 7,500 miles, but you are saying this is no longer relevant, right ? OK well anyway appreciate your response and help, thank you friend.

Flashing is no different through either option.
