I liked the rev matched downshifts but turned it off to see if it would change the 2nd gear issue and it did change things, so I keep it off. I use mostly Sport and use Comfort when there are train tracks or a rough patch up ahead etc.

Since it defaults to sport mode I've gotten used to that mapping and I notice that when I change to comfort mode I find myself never giving the car enough gas from a stop since now I have to press the pedal in further to match what would normally get it going in sport mode. Does anyone else find this annoying or think its just a useless feature? I just don't see the need to have it change.
I feel that less throttle response in comfort mode can help you be a little easier on your tires, if nothing else. Definitely don't struggle to drive the car in comfort mode, even though the power drop is quite noticeable.

I turned auto-rev match off as soon as I got the car. On the street I'm looking for driving enjoyment at lower speeds, so I want the greater involvement. On track I'd use the auto-rev match because I'm trying to get more out of the car. I also don't want to get rusty in case I do another lemons race or someday rent a spec miata or cheap rally car for an event.

95% of the time I'm in sport. Sometimes I like R+ on a mountain road for the steering exercise :) I've gone back and forth on whether I think comfort is useful. I used to think it's actually more uncomfortable because the body is less controlled. Now that the car is more broken in and feels a little different, my opinion might have changed.

So I have never turned the rev match off since I bought the R. I also almost never use anything but sport mode because honestly I cant tell much difference between comfort and sport. I do use +R when I feel a challange coming on in traffic lol. But other then that I dont use these options much. How about you?
I have had my CTR for about 7 months and have driven only about 10 minutes in R mode--I found the steering too heavy for daily driving and in addition, the ride was too harsh on some of our crappy SoCal roads. Comfort mode is great on the highway and blunts acceleration somewhat to keep the cops away, and Sport mode is ideal for some spirited driving in town. As I stated earlier these modes are almost like having 3 'moods' for the car.

I use comfort 90% of the time. The roads here in BC are fine, but I want a subtle ride, plus R+ mode is meaningless in heavy traffic.

I know, maybe I should get a floaty Lincoln instead.

I turned rev matching off as soon as I could. Only turned it on once for my dad so he could see what it does, otherwise it's been off. I mostly use Comfort mode because I just assume it's better on gas, only switching to +R when I actually want to drive. I never use Sport.

I’m almost always in sport. For some reason in +R the rev matched downshifts are a bit too aggressive and when I go to let out the clutch I get a jerk that I haven’t gotten when in sport mode. I think it over revs too fast and thus the revs are not in the correct position by the time you let out the clutch.

wow that's wild. I can feel a difference for sure when in comfort mode...the throttle response is slow and the suspension feels softer.

But yeah, I rarely go into any other mode than sport. I only throw it in comfort when I see some bad roads up ahead (pot holes, etc). I'll go into R mode very rarely...when there's no one in my way and I can get on the car and throw it through the twisties, lol

Oh and I'll also throw it in comfort on longer drives when I really don't want to go fast or drive crazy. The lower throttle response kind of keeps me in control. It also helps quite the exhaust a tad. (due to the lower throttle response probably)

Granted, automatic rev matching is a cool feature no doubt- however it is not a feature that has any impact on the purchasing decision. I bought the car because I enjoy driving- this includes downshift rev matching.
Haha same here - after driving manuals for 20+ years, it feels like the car is being a little too intrusive. Glad i'm not the only one, but i agree it is a cool feature to have.

I drive to work 25 miles each way, so it stays in comfort mode for the daily commute. There are plenty of pot holes and various debris on the road that I don't need to hit going 65 mph. I will switch it to +R mode when I find a bit of twisty roads that I can have some fun on or scare the girlfriend. The one trip to Louisiana for Thanksgiving resulted in an alignment when I got back as the roads are not very good there.
