I already plan at some point in changing out rods and pistons
In my opinion its not worth building a base model motor.

I was debating between rebuilding the motor with after market rods and pistons or swaping in a used si motor when my rods finally give up. But now that I see the fueling limitations (plus all the other differences) I have decided I'm going to swap to the si motor when the time comes.

I'm not trying to bash your build idea. I just want you to get the best bang for your buck.

Glad I saw this.. I was intending to build the internals too but if it makes more sense to swap the Si motor due to fueling limitations, then that's definitely the way to go.

I would have more luck building my base motor up and swapping out all the stuff needed from a si than it would be to find a used si motor. I have looked many times and there are non on the market

This is sad news. I was hoping for a bit more power with that setup. I think I may ditch my Sport hatch, and buy a Veloster N.

I have a similar set up, minus exhaust, clutch, flex fuel. Haven't dyno'd yet but one of our biggest limitations will be fuel quality and our rods. D-Rob told me the 91 one is pretty bad (at least where I'm at) so timing was reduced.

Veloster N's aren't that fast. At 240 WHP on the stock turbo, you'd be as fast as a stock N, not to mention, this turbo upgraded hatch at 309 WHP.

Yeah, I hear ya. The mod I want most is LSD, and let's face it, it's going to be costly. Not to mention coils, brakes, internals. All this will probably cost me the same as a brand new N. Swapping an SI motor would be cool, but that's going to cost a lot too, lol. I just don't know. I'm going to hold off on modding for the time being, and explore my options.

Still some solid numbers. I didn't realize the HPFP flowed less on the base vs the Si.

Fantastic info! I have almost an identical set up to this and just finished up my e-tune with d-rob the other day. I still plan on getting my car up on a dyno to have personal numbers, but I love the way the car responds. If anyone is contemplating getting a tune with Derek... don’t sleep. The guy is top notch, super responsive, and not just here to take your money. The dude cares.

So what kind of numbers would I be looking at just running 91 octane?
It's the best I can get in my area unless I want to drive 80 miles just to fill up

Can you list your mods? Also what boost are you hitting?

How much boost is your tune hitting? OP is hitting 26.5 with his setup.
