Really just a question of your budget. The $449 V1.2 offers the same tuning abilities as the $649 V2. The V2 is great if you don't have a laptop and allows you to lock and unlock right from it's touchscreen. The programmable LED's are a cool feature too.

Very cool. Well, I do have a laptop, but it's my precious baby that I have too much invested in. I'd probably end up setting up a bracket/mount system in my car with the tuner, or tuck it away and set up some gauges in that case. Time to put some more money in that savings account!

I want the tune but my tires only have 6,400 miles on them. Feel like it's wasteful buying new ones. Do you think I could get away with stock tires and a tune for awhile? Eventually would like UHP A/S tires with better grip. I imagine with the FT 140's and a tune I'd have to be more cautious driving on slick roads.

I'm still on the factory tires too because I have less than 11,000 on them. I have some Nokian zLine UHP tires in the basement I'll put on down the road. Do you absolutely need grippier tires with a tune? No, but it really depends on how you drive.

You certainly have more power with a tune but you always have the ability to control the power with your foot.

I mostly drive highway and city with the occasional fast on ramps. I enjoy the extra passing power on the highway and the confidence I have that there is just minimal lag in the city. I'm doing this all on the stock Firestones for now and having a blast.

I can only remember one time at high speed that the power overwhelmed the tires. Of course, you can't go flooring it from a stoplight all the time but from a rolling start, it's awesome. Plus you always can set up boost by gear to reduce wheelspin.

KTuner has boost by gear option with base tunes? How does that work with a CVT?

There are quick settings that let you limit power in the lower "gears". Yeah, I know, the CVT doesn't really have gears. But if you use a lower boost in 1st, it does actually limit wheelspin off the line.

I've been running the 21psi Dual tune on mine. Using these settings for Boost by gear.

hey, that front end scheme looks awesome, cool headlight tint...….I've been on 3 tune select running the boost by gear set to custom. If you look at the boost by gear tables, all gears are set to 33psi, what's up with that? See second table below showing boost with custom setting quick boost by gear.

My third using tweaked tune boost target table, see below. Would you think a boost by gear setting like the one (Ktuner default) you chose would produce more over all low to mid rpm torque/ acceleration than this current table setup?

That 33 psi is meaningless really. All it means is by default, BBG is disabled.

Hi gtman,

I get that, Tunerview shows what I got set in each selectable tune top psi set in the tables. Nowhere near 33 psi.

I remember Ktuner saying there is a hierarchy for each tune setting parameter used by the program. BBG psi's trump Boost Target 3 - normal psi's.

So back to performance comparisons between 3rd tune Boost Target 3 - normal settings or boost by gear similar to ocbooger. Have you compared them? Do you think there would be a noticeable difference in drivability? Sounds intriguing, need to test out when I get the chance.

Does anyone know what the output of torque and horse power is on these tunes or what people are currently getting in terms of output? As I believe most of the trim levels we are discussing here are in the 174HP/164ft Lbs of torque range when stock, at least this is what is rated for my touring sedan.

I am waiting for the thaw of spring to hit us here up North before doing performance mods to the vehicle and focusing more on aesthetics right now but looking to lower it on Eibach pro-kit springs with front and rear sway bar included and Megan racing tower strut bar to tighten up suspension for the increased power I am looking to add. I am also looking to get new wheels and tires although that may come later as I am looking to see what the car feels like with the suspension mods for fitment and performance as I have only really driven the stock 17 wheels and rubber combo for about 1000Km before putting on the winter wheel and tire combo.

Power mods coming in April (As my tax return will be allocated towards)
- Mishimoto CAI
- Mishimoto Intercooler and silicone piping kit
- Hondata

I just want to know if anyone knows what the output of their actual vehicle is? As on a custom tune I've seen some videos and dug up info on a custom tune and combo of CAI and Intercooler with a tune can get closer to 220HP/230 Ft LBS of Torque.

And the most elusive piece of information is what the CVT can handle in terms of Torque and HP as I am looking to get more power but in no way am I looking to get CTR type power but slightly over Si would be awesome without putting myself at risk of damaging the CVT which is of more concern then the engine and or turbo as I have also read that they are equipped to handle a bit more grunt.

Sorry to be so long winded just wanted to see what people can offer in terms of info. Thx

I still wish the CVT could be manipulated to not do the fake gear shifting and just hang at max rpm when going wide open throttle.

As far as BBG, it all depends on your tires and how you drive. I used BBG for a bit but now drive without it. I don't floor it off the line and the majority of my "fun moments" are done at high speed. On the rare occasion I overdo it at low speed, I kind of enjoy the tire squealing and torque steer.

So I have a couple questions then. What’s the cheapest I can get a ktuner 1.2 for? Does the tuner have to stay in the car? or can I tune and remove it (I want it to be discreet). Are their guides available for how to tune from package opening to flashing to removing tuner?
