I'm in Parsippany. DM me, I can order parts the speaker asap.

I'd be interested in splitting the parts for this. What part of Jersey are you in? I'm around Bergen county.

Does the navigation instructions or Bluetooth voice come strictly from the center speaker? Would there be a problem with disconnecting the center speaker in a rebuilt setup? I haven't seen this addressed in the thread.

correct, only center channel puts out voice and navi. if you disconnect it, you won't get voice and navi anymore. it's processed through the stock amp btw.

curious, why would you want to disconnect the center channel? it gives great imaging and sound staging.

I'm in the process of a complete stereo rebuild in my R. I've been speaking with the support department of a major speaker manufacturer, (which I can't name since they're a client), and they suggested just 2 channel front in a 2 or 3way configuration, (3way would require some extensive mods). The suggestion was removal of the center channel. But, since the bluetooth/nav is exclusive to the center, that's no longer the option. I'll be also going with a pair of 12's in a custom box in the hatch which will likely be in one way or another removable. My first Civic was a '96 EX with 6 10's in it ported bandpass into the cab via the 6x9 speaker holes. I've always loved a great quality competition level system. Basically, it's a whole different direction than your setup, (which I appreciate the writeup upon since it gave me lots of great information about how to plan my system).

That’s just odd. Center is so important.

Yes, 2 way in door 6.5” is fine and works well for mids and lows. Stock is 1 way so muted. Tweeters need to stay also.

3 way absolutely complex and more work and money if that’s what you want. Here, we only focus on best and most simple approach to keep within budget and time.

Yes custom sub box can tap into stock sub signal and needs to go through an Audio Control to bring back the bass which will be lost once you do all 4 speakers - guaranteed. Stock HU is smart.

Got a 1” spacer ring being made. I didn’t want to pop for a custom box at this time. If the stock enclosure with an 8w3 is bad, I’ll upgrade to custom fiberglass later.

Center speaker staying on stock amplifier, against my shop guy’s advice, who also wants to delete it. Not willing to lose Waze voiceover from CarPlay. I plan to send all the rest of the speakers through the Fix86 to the Alpine. It’s going to be a ****load of wires going from stock amp to the Alpine amp and back.

$940 all in using my old Alpine 5 channel- excluding if I sell the extra Focal center. Should be able to recuperate $50 for that.

If these darn speakers will come in, I’ll get moving on this.

With a good dsp tune (time alignment etc) the center speaker is not needed for center stage. It will sound like the concert is right in front of you. However this takes a bit of work from someone on who knows how to set up a dsp like a bit one. With that being said I am still kind of blown away (against everyone’s opinion) on how clear songs sound on the oem system. Maybe I got a ringer but even though I have all of my equipment ready to go in, I’m just hesitanting in the install how much I am enjoying the stock system lol.

of course, any more complex and more expensive system will do a lot more and in different configuration...and too much more work than most of us care for.

yes, stock system is fine actually...just upgraded speakers and you're good to go for even better enjoyment without breaking the bank or running wires all over the place.

i'm done and least complexity and loving it every day without complexities. my volume knob is still my right foot all day every day ;-)

I have an extra center channel of the recommended JL direct replacement model in Orange County, CA if someone wants to buy it for 1/2 of what the pair cost me from amazon.

Are you referring to the sub or which speaker?

If sub and mono amp setup, yes, ideally you should use it. Stock HU detects a different load especially if you’re feeding the mono amp and will cut/attenuate the bass and gives you no bass without the LC2i.

If you’re in my product reviews FB group, there are people looking for the other half often. Should also reply to thread on there.

yes sorry, on the sub. i have a p3sd4-8 and keep losing my bass with the stock amp. i was hoping to just use the lc2i but im not sure. wanted to use a fix86 for the rest of the speakers with the upgrades youve done. been out of installing for a long time. now everythings interconnected.
