Here ya go... Took an hour and 20 minutes.

Did you essentially get an oil change for free? I went for my product update today and was also due for an oil change. They charged me $60 for the oil filter, labour, and "extra" oil as the product update only included a certain amount of oil. :banghead:

You definitely would have gotten a free oil change... if you werent due for one. I changed my oil 2 weeks ago and I got this done today and told them not to change my oil.

I was okay with getting the free oil change from the close to 5K miles I had on the car, and the fact that 2 of the trips where cross-country (FL to WI)

Anyone who had the TSB done can you comment on the mileage? Is it worse on gas or the same?

I have a large trip tomorrow (150+ miles) and will let you know. It's so cold out in WI here that the short trips are useless for MPG.

Thanks, looking forward to the updates. I'm scheduled to do mine in about a week but I'm on the fence whether it's worth it if there is a risk of killing mileage.

Are the idle speeds any different right after a cold start ?

Had the update done 2 weeks ago, I can honestly say she's running smoother, warms up faster, and for whatever reason--the Turbo seems to have been "boosted" or "freed-up" now. The 1.5Ts are such a little torque monster we don't need to wring the engine out to get moving quickly. Max torque comes on as low as 1700rpm. Anyway, there's a very steep hill I have to go up and down every time to go to and from home; I almost always stay at or below 2000rpm while climbing it and the max MPH I used to be able to reach was about 25-26MPH and now going up the same hill keeping the same revs as I always have I'm seeing 27-28mph, and this is just on "Econ" mode btw. Anyway, she's running like a CHAMP.

Also, cold-start idle remains the same as it always was, about 1500 rpm but the car def warms up faster

Hello Everyone! I received my notice in mail yesterday. Honda campaign no: N66/N68 for “some” 2016-2018 civics. Since Honda has recognized this issue, one would expect the recall would be for ALL civics manufactured during that time frame. Since only “some” are recognized, this is not a “climate” recall as it would seem the problem has been narrowed down to the root cause, its origin, a specific brand of components or a batch of components that were of poor quality but Honda used them anyway. My guess is, my civic must have the crappy parts. I have not experienced any symptoms yet but will be getting the recall done next week.

I do however have another issue, not sure if this recall is related to the howling screaming noise my car makes when AC is engaged ...will have to see what happens after recall is done on my car next week.

Do NOT go gambling in Vegas .. you are not a good Guesser !!!

Seriously, how can you be on this Forum, and not know about the OIL DILUTION Issue that ALL DI Engines have, (Not Just Civic), and about the TSB that Honda has issued to help reduce the amount of OD you should experience in the future with you Civic.

If you really want to understand what is going on, there are an excessive number of threads in this forum, and others about OD, or just go to Youtube and search on OIL DILUTION, watch a few videos, and then you will be able to sleep at nights, and stop worrying that you have "Crap parts" in you car !!

Then go back and read that Notice you got from Honda, and it will make a lot more sense to you.

Hello scopesys, and I thought this was a friendly place to chatter about the misfortunes of new car ownership. WOW was I wrong! Well here goes nothing ...you suddenly think you are my mother? My father? Or both? Who do you think you are ...Geoff with “G”? It’s easy to be a coward and hide behind a screen and rip on whoever you want, when in your opinion you feel, a person is not worthy to share or chime in on a discussion? Don’t care. People like you with holy than thou attitudes are not worth the time and energy. Must be lonely on that there pedestal of yours in the clouds, eh?

Oh, and btw, thanks for the YouTube tip. When I feel the need to look for instruction on how to fix a dishwasher or knit a scarf , it will surely come in useful.

Wow.. I must have hit a nerve there "Kiddo"
In your case - "Ignorance is Bliss" -- as you have clearly shown.

You ask a question, and then go ballistic when you get an informative reply.

Obviously you cannot be told anything.--- you already know it all .

9 post and 0 thanks .. really says it all

Hello everyone. I received a Honda campaign notice in the mail on Friday. Scroll back a few posts to see it if you like. I don’t seem to be experiencing symptoms that are mentioned in the campaign other than what Honda noted as “in exceptional cases”, an abnormal noise. For whatever the reason, my car has been picked for this recall. I am curious, though, to know if anyone who owns a 2018 Honda civic sport touring hatchback (manual) on this forum has experienced a very loud abnormal howling screaming type noise when AC is engaged. I am aware of the other threads that are discussing this matter, I am only asking because, I am suffering dearly with this noise, and I wonder if the 2 issues are somehow related.

The recall notice I received is called “campaign no.: n66/n/68 January 2018” for some 2016-2018 civics. If this is correct, my car was less than a month old when this recall began, therefore Honda knew of this matter when my vehicle was at the manufacturing stage. Any 2019 owners suffering with same or similar matters?
I think the AC noise you are experiencing is an unrelated issue. Make sure you will mention it when you take it in.
The fan is also a bit noisy on mine from time to time but not on AC only.

Manual transmission cars seem to suffer less from fuel dilution.
My manual LX has the fuel smell but have not noticed the oil revel raising.
It seems to be the CVT keeping the revs too low for proper heating for cold climates.

When reading my notice I saw a part where after the procedure is done my oil level will read higher than normal...im assuming Honda is putting in more oil than the owners manual spec of 3.7 liters w/ filter to help mitigate the dilution? I know you can be a little bit over the full mark but how much more over the mark is the unknown...they doing 4 liters ? Would be nice to know for the DIY'ers
