Back in August I picked up a brand new 2018 Civic 1.5T Sport Hatchback in Rallye Red. I bought if for my wife and whilst we were in the dealership placing the order she indicated that she would like to upgrade the wheels to 18's and fit an upper boot spoiler. At this point I didn't really have much interest in the Civic but this all changed after delivery.

Within a few days of collecting our new Hatch my family of five (me, wife and 3 kids) all came down with a really severe virus. This meant that our new car sat on the drive for over a week whilst we are all house bound.

When we eventually had the strength to leave the house it was then that I realised just what a great car we had purchased. I carefully ran it in for the first 1000 miles and in this time starting researching the modification scene and doing some forums. It is true to say that I am infected with Honda modifying bug......

You may not be aware but my life is built around my SAAB parts and diagnostics business here in the UK. I am not completely new to the Honda brand as I previously owned a 2011 Civic 1.4 TI500 (special edition JDM Pearl White with loads of extras but non existent engine performance) and I am certainly not new to the performance parts and tuning scene but SAAB's are a different kettle of fish (if you know what I mean!).

Having established a very new mutually beneficial relationship with a local(ish) Honda dealer I began to start looking and pricing up genuine Honda accessories. As we were approaching the winter months (and lots of salt on the roads from the gritters) I thought it best to concentrate on interior/exterior mods first and leave the wheel upgrade to Summer 2019.

My first addition was the dealer upper boot spoiler. Great thing with Honda parts is that they come repainted so ready to bolt on. My father (now retired) has been in the body repair business all of his life and that is what I grew up around. On inspection of the factory paint finish I am very pleased with how it came out of the box. Best of all it took less than 15 minutes to fit and by purchasing trade saved me over ÂŁ200.00 against the dealer fitted price...

Mine is blue—>
Very nice. I love the Blue but was against it when I was choosing mine. Originally wanted Sonic Grey Pearl but Honda UK didn't have any built and their ÂŁ6000.00 discount was for cars registered that month. Therefore I opted for Rally Red and it was another ÂŁ600.00 cheaper as non metallic option.

In a way I wish I had got the Bright Sporty Blue as I have seen many modified ones that complement the colour better than with stock factory wheels. Nevermind, I still love the red and maybe my next purchase will be the Type R in Blue.....

Yeah, we all would like to get a CtR, but the sport I like also. Next move is to save some $$ and get it lowered.
Happy 2019 from across the pond in Baltimore Maryland.

UK cars can be supplied from the factory with rear tints ie rear doors and rear screen. My Sport came with factory tints and they are plenty dark enough. We have very strict laws on front door glass tints and to be honest it is not worth the aggravation that being stopped by the police by doing so.

I bought the Sport Hatchback as It has 3 rear seat belts and I have 3 young children. When I can afford a Type R (hopefully a 2020 model) then I would keep the Sport and use the CTR for weekends and track days.

I am glad you like your 68 plate. I took mine in for the first 6k mile service yesterday. Instead of a Jazz for the usual loan car the service department loaned me a Sport Plus. The first thing I noticed was how loose and how much left to right play there is is the stock shifter movement. As I have already upgraded to the full Acuity Instruments components (I am an authorised dealer for Acuity her in the UK) I would highly recommend this upgrade to you.

As all of the upgraded parts are hidden it is to obvious that this has been improved and still remains looking stock.

Yesterday I fitted a BlackVue DR900S 2 channel 4K front and rear dash cam set up (convenient as I am also an authorised dealer for BlackVue) and it is amazing. The WiFi cloud app means you can instantly view your recordings.

Maybe I should start a European (maybe not European in 71 days time LOL) a Civic X forum?

What do you think?
