I just got a quote from AAA for 123/month for type R plus my 98 civic. For Type R only it would be 163/month (spread out over 12 months). 31 YO with clean record.

Now all I need is the Type R!:confused1:

I did the thread search and found this old thread, so a bit of a revival. I did a price check as I have my name on the wait list now and Progressive quoted me at $103 per month. 250 deductible, 300/100k policy, roadside etc etc. It is funny how some states are far cheaper than others but meh, it's not that bad I guess.

Mine turned out to be $7 more than the Porsche at the same coverage levels (for a new 2019 CTR) with Amica.

It is cheaper to insure my FK8 than my 2014 Mazda3 GT here in British Columbia.

My insurance went from $94/mo to $143/mo because an underwriter left Progressive, then when they re-secured a new underwriter 60 days later, it's now $81/mo.

Edit: (For specifics, I have 50,000 person/100,000 property (bodily injury/property liability & Underinsured), $500 Comp deductible/$1000 collision deductible, rental reimbursement (30 days))

I'm 44 and in contrast my previous car, a 2015 WRX, was $150/mo.

I swear they aren't paying attention to the trim level.

Ontario: 195$CAD/mo for 2 cars. 120$/mo for just a Sorento so the R added 75$/mo.

Mine is only $100/mo. I think this car classifies as any regular civic would.

$50/mo here with AAA insurance in Texas. 33, no accidents ever, 700+ credit, <3000 miles/year, $2000 deductible with full coverage+comprehensive, multiple car discount. I think the majority of Type R owners are 30+ years old so we aren't trying to do dumb stuff that will cause accidents or total it. I really do hope this doesn't change and they keep thinking it's a family hatchback grocery getter

I'm 35 years old. My insurance ins $106 a month with a $500 deductible. For comparison it went up $2 a month from a 2018 Si to a 2018 CTR.

My insurance went up $60 after adding the R to my policy. Was paying $120 now I'm at $180 for 2 cars with GEICO top tier insurance $250 deductible on both cars. Can't complain n
CRANK your deductible - lower your monthy. No way on earth you claim a 300 - 500 dollar damage on insurance right? So crank the deductible to something you would claim, I don't claim, or intend to claim, anything under $1500.00 so that's what I set my deductible to. Then my monthly for my cars goes WAAAAY down.

Try it out, but think what you would really hit up insurance for. Imo nobody would risk their rates for minor $500 damage so why pay extra monthly?

Agreed there, I'm of the same mindset that I would really only want to use insurance in the case of something catastrophic happening, which is why I went with a $2000 deductible. But a lot of people's situations are different and not everyone can eat a sudden $2000 cost. Some may not have an emergency fund set aside, heck, I read that a good chunk of Americans don't even have $1000 for an emergency. Probably not financially prudent if you own a Type R but that's another rabbit hole we probably shouldn't go down...

I have the R, a nismo juke and a 05 focus on same plan and I'm at geico. My insurance is 127 a month for full coverage on R and Juke and minimum on focus. With zero deductables. I think the Rs portion is 65 a month. Strange thing was I traded a 15 Si in fir the R. And my insurance was higher on the Si.

I had to do some math... it's not as bad as I thought on an individual basis... I'm over 40, have a 17 year old driver and fast cars.

18 Type R is 811/year. I have new car replacement on this policy, so. minus $126 if you want to do it.
18 Civic Touring is exactly the same...

CTS-V, ATS-V, C63 and RV all make my policy just a c-hair under 6 digits... :|

C63 is the by far most expensive car on my policy.. and it's a 13.

Perfect driving record for all 3 drivers, FICO credit score isn't a thing on my insurance. Paid in full discount as well.
