Hello civicx,

I have seen a few post on here about members putting the Stock FK8 CTR exhaust on there SI sedan and a few Sport Hatchbacks.

I have not seen any posts on the type r exhaust on an SI coupe, So heres the first.

The CTR exhaust is the correct length and does not need any part of it shortened or extended.

The sedans need the tip extended.
The exhaust did need all the hangers relocated.
This is an affordable and easy task for any muffler shop.
I simply purchased a 6 pack of 3/8" hangers off ebay.
I started by removing all the hangers of the factory type r exhaust.
I bolted the type r exhaust up to the front pipe and supported the exhaust with stands.
The hanger in between the resonators needs to be relocated back a few inches.
I simply cut and bent a new hanger and welded it to the exhaust pipe.

Continuing our way back, I removed the bracket/hangers just before the muffler.
Again I cut, bent, and welded new hangers to the factory chassis hanger location.
The hangers on the mufflers you have two options.
Option1
I have seen other users use the factory muffler hangers and weld a new hanger on to there frame rails.
I did not like this idea. I wanted the least amount of modification to the chassis as possible. I also wanted the exhaust to be easily reversible.

Option2
I decided to weld hangers on to the muffler and use the factory mount.
this required making a few bends on the hanger. This may also not look as good, but to me its better then the look of welding to your frame rail.

Finally the rear most mounts.
I choose to cut these off the car. Although it was not necessary the exhaust does get close to potential hitting the hanger. And with this being a auto x car, the exhaust may travel up and down harder then daily use. It also looks cleaner with the two hooks gone. A very easy reinstallation if required.

Here are some more photos of the fitment.
Dont mind the muddy tires. drive way to the shop was soaked from the last 4 days of non stop rain

Hello civicx,

Has anyone on here fitted this exhaust on a SI coupe?

I plan to pick up an oem CTR exhaust this week.
I was told to use the resonators from the CTR in place of the SI.
Has an used just the mufflers?

If this has not been done or is not documented stay tuned for photos of the install :)
Any update to this?

Either way, it's going to take custom work. Even if you just wanted to use the muffler, it's still going to require welding as the SI exhaust is 1 long piece overall. It's likely possible, but there are now options that look like the CTR that are going to be much less work.
It's not that much work at all lol literally any muffler shop can get it on within minutes. Only thing needed adjusting are the mounts and that's easy work

@ko2performance I don't believe anything was welded on to my underbody rails. Mine was just to hack off the hangers on the ctr exhaust and relocate/rotate them. The tips were also extended in order to have a perfect fitment.

Maybe the sedans have a hanger welded on the inside of the frame rail? The coupe does not.
Your photo does a great job of showing how the sedan needs the tips extended.

Your actual plate number can be read in the reflection on your bumper. Nice job on that photoshop of your plate though. Looks good though. Looking forward to hearing it.

Lol, damn hd photos with ceramic coating looking all shiney and such.

I was more concerned about the use of it on social media. Facebook does a good job down grading the quality.
