Any update on how these work for normal commuting in the rain? This would be a daily driver tire during spring and summer for me. I'm leaning towards the PS4S because they supposedly are great in the rain as well.

My goal is as much traction as possible for 1st and 2nd (even with boost by gear, I am running into lots of traction issues on my all season contis on 20s). My goal would be to get my 0-60 under 5 seconds without having to drop the clutch and without having to feather the throttle too much. Maybe I'm asking for too much lol.

I went through 2 sets of Cup2 on my previous car Megane RS265 for street/track, got them heat cycled before installing and was able to get 7000km with 6 trackdays before the fronts worn out..

On a track that's about 2.2km the Cup2 take 1-2 laps to warm up for it to achieve optimal grip and I was able to do 5-6 consistent laps before it becomes greasy. I had no issue dailying my car with Cup2, just be cautious for the first 10-15min in the wet and you'll be fine. Due to softer compound the tyre will pretty much pickup anything on the road, so be sure you have some mud flaps installed as it will flick debris/rocks to your side sill or door.

For my Type R I bought a set of wheels with RE71R for when I go trackdays and on the street I use the factory wheels with CSC6, I find the RE71R has stiffer sidewall than Cup2 and does not require warming up even in the wet. The grip is there right away with the RE71R, but I felt due to this it won't last as many laps as Cup2 before it require cooling down. If you're going to use your car on the street only I would just stick with PS4S which can be used for some light trackdays also, tyres like Cup2 and RE71R is more suited for trackdays ;)

The Cup2s are fine in light rain and actually have good grip in the wet, but they hydroplane easily in areas of standing water. For your application I’d stick with the PS4S. In dry, warm areas, like the southwest, the Cup2s are awesome.
