Am I alone in being okay with the stock exhaust sound?

I have no issues at all with the sound of the stock exhaust. The looks of the car attract enough attention as is, I don't want people to hear me coming a block away.

The best sounding 4 cylinder I ever heard was in a yellow ITR. I'd see it driving around my college. It had a deep throaty roaring sound. Honestly I think it must be very difficult to get 4 cylinder exhausts to not sound like cars with exhaust leaks. I've liked some of the aftermarket exhausts for the CTR but not enough to drop money of them. Now if they could get one to sound like that ITR of old I'd jump on one.

The exhaust is just about perfect. The car is exciting when you get on it, but comfortable during highway driving. If anything, it's actually too loud with the rear seats down. (In addition to having the rear seats up, the privacy cargo cover helps keep the sound down for commuting).

I'm fine with it. I do a lot of highway driving and the loud drone of some other cars would probably annoy me.

@HONDA X, The Invidia R400 might be what you’re looking for. Here’s a good YouTube link about the R400, in case you haven’t already come across this exhaust:

@Z06_Pilot, I definitely hear ya. I must be one of a small minority that doesn’t need that accompanying sound!

Thanks but I ended up purchasing the triple tip GReddy SP HG exhaust system. I think it’s the best looking triple tip exhaust system for the CTR and it looks amazing. I will be installing it today. If it ends up having to much exhaust drone to my liking I will just pair up the oem factory triple tip with the GReddy 3 inch piping to bring back the quietness from the oem exhaust lol.

Great! Good luck with the install. Would be great to hear how it sounds both outside and also inside during a highway cruise.

I drove the car for awhile after installing the exhaust until it rained and I have to say the GReddy HG sounds nice and the appearance of the exhaust looks amazing and flows well with the FK8. Almost looks stock like that came with the car. As far as describing the sound the GReddy HG exhaust has a similar exhaust note to the oem CTR exhaust but with a deeper exhaust tone. Almost seems like an amplied version of the oem CTR exhaust. There is drone at 3k rpm’s but it doesn’t seem to bother me as much. The throttle response feels better and doesn’t seem to have as much turbo lag as in comparison to the oem CTR exhaust. Overall I am so happy and pleased with this exhaust mod as the car started to become boring to drive with the oem CTR exhaust. It was just too quiet for my taste. I can always revert back to oem but that is no longer an option because the GReddy “HG” exhaust is not even that loud to get a modified exhaust ticket. My other 2 cars have a J’s Racing exhaust and a Spoon N1 exhaust. Taking that in consideration this exhaust sounds just right.
