Question. So I’m currently working on the fronts. I’m following this DIY. But for the mother of God. I can’t remove the last bolt for the lower control arm. The sway bar is in the way. How’d you all do it?!
Did you figure it out? I’m also stuck on this part. Do we have to remove both link on the sway bar before removing the nut? Or can we do one at a time?

I just did it using this method and I had no issues.

I just used a jack on the sway bar on the other side to move it.

Used this method and it was a breeze. Very similar to the 9th Gen Accord Method. Took a total of about 2hours taking my time. A few tips not noted. I found it easier to loosen everything and remove the lower bolts before removing the strut from the tower. Once the lower arm is loose and the knuckle is free from the strut it’s a breeze. Also to remove the lateral arm you need to jack up the lower arm to get the arm off the mount.

I actually installed Swift springs using this method. And I was advised thru Evasive not to cut bumps. Maybe cause of the higher spring rates.

Hoping someone can provide me some help. Using this method to remove my shock. I can't figure out how to remove the LCA bolt below as the swaybar prevents removal. I disconnected both sides swaybar and tried to rotate it up & out of the way for additional clearance without success. I see a few people have had issues at this point. I'm not following how they used a jack to resolve this. Any help appreciated.

do you have both sides off the ground? Or just this one side you are working on?

edit: I mistook your pic for a different area...yeah, make sure both sides are up (as in both sides of the car on are stands)? I'm sure you did, as you mentioned you disconnected both sides...but just making sure. If one side is down it makes it difficult to move the other side.

Did you remove the 2 bolts holding the other point of the lower control arm on step #7? It allows the arm to pivot out of the way for better access to that bolt you can't get out.

Thought I'd offer some tips to others who attempt this install themselves.

  • Lower Control Arm Bolt - The single forward bolt provide me and others some issues during removal. If you remove it prior to loosening the two bolt rear mount, it comes right out without issue.

  • Lowering the Knuckle - The instructions state to slide the rear two bolt mount forward, which definitely helps, but you can gain additional drop by using a pry bar and raising the single bolt mount point during lowering. The control arm hits the subframe when lowering so by raising that pivot it provides more clearance.

  • Cutting Rear Bump Stop - There is no mention of this in this tread but the Spoon instructions state to cut 15mm off the rear, just like the front. You can pry up the shock dust boot from the bottom and push it up to expose the bump stop. Grab the lower portion of the bump stop and pull it down. This will allow easy access for cutting while still mounted.

  • Optional: Rear Upper Control Arm - I installed Eibach Adjustable Rear UCAs at the same time. The inner pivot bolts are difficult the access. I used a 17mm pass-thru wrench & socket with great success. There isn't much room and the thinner design of this wrench/socket allowed me to get it most of the way out easily. If you disconnect the UCA at the knuckle prior to this, you can move the arm around to take pressure off the bolt once it's backed about halfway out. This allowed me to unscrew it by hand the rest of the way out.
