fwiw, these oil leak posts got me nervous so just did a thorough inspection of my engine.

2018 CTR, no mods, just over 1000 miles. Couldnt find a drop of oil anywhere. Looked for seepage and none of that either. Not a speck.

That's good to know! I don't see anything on my 2018 as well. Seems like this problem is more common with the earlier CTRs.

I just discovered and oil leak between transmission and block- suspect main seal issue,
car has 5,000kms and really no hard driving yet....
going through the threads to see if someone has similar issues.

During my regular service they found that my car was leaking oil as well. After cleaning underneath the car and adding the white leak spray, I drove home and returned to the dealer 2 weeks later. They found that my car had an engine oil leak. They issued the claim to Honda (Honda Thailand in my case) and my claim was accepted. Yesterday, I went to the dealer and they changed my Engine Oil Seal (91207-5T0-004). Seems like it took them around 8 hours to change this seal. A total cost of around 120 USD which I didn't have to pay. They asked me to return in a month or so to see if the new seal is ok or not. I asked if they had had similar cases as mine during the past two years, but they told me that I was the first one (not true for sure).

Which seal is that? Rear main?
Did they have to drop the transmission to replace?

In my case, it was not a seal, if was the crank sensor that was leaking and they replaced it. Thankfully it was not an engine seal or requiring major tear-down.

Where was your oil appearing on motor?
Trans plate area by inspection plate?
Filter area?

I had some oil by my filter on first change but haven’t inspected my car again after first oil change.

OMG !!!

In the USA, you could easily multiply that $120 X 10 = $1200 ++

Luckily wages are cheap here and the quality of work is actually really good as all of the technicians are trained by Honda Asia Pacific in Bangkok and are regularly sent overseas for training in Japan.

Honestly, I don't know, but the Honda Part No and information say it's an engine seal. As far as I know, they had to take off quite some parts in order to reach for the engine seal. Hence it took them 8 hours with 3 technicians to finish the job. At first they thought the oil was coming from the oil pan as they thought the gasket was faulty, but after closer inspection they found that the oil was coming from higher up. It wasn't the engine valve gasket so they concluded that it was the engine oil seal. The oil that leaked out was all over the oil pan, and other parts near there. I had no oil on my bottom plate so it was more like sweating than actually dripping.

Just took my '18 Type-R in for its first A1 maintenance minder at 8100 miles and found out it's leaking oil around the drain plug and up around the valve cover somewhere. The tech took me back and showed me briefly and there was oil spattered all over the internals behind the block and dripping from the drain plug. Yikes! Exact diagnosis is pending the tech's lunch break.....

They're replacing the head gasket, valve cover gasket, vacuum pump assembly, and some o-rings.
