Thanks for responding and note below.

On my owner's Guide :

Maintenance minder codes are on 129, but 127's close enough.

68 & 69 are on Audio Connectivity and 71 is something about Bluetooth.

29 has the steering wheel control for Driver info which I don't have.

135 is how to reset oil life.

is that a good idea to go Synthetic after first oil change? Is that worth doing that? Or its not a good idea? What are the sugestions from experts. I'm running EX-T.
I plan to use Amsoil full synthetic after break-in. I use it in everything I own.

What kind of difference do you feel with regular vs synthetic?
You can't feel any difference, but your engine sure can. Full synthetic flows much better when cold, providing good lubrication on cold startups, plus, has a much higher boiling point and resistance to thermal breakdown. Just what your turbo needs... you will feel better knowing your engine is being protected better, both when cold and hot.

So, let's just assume I am an idiot, pretty much because I am.

Everyone here is talking about recommended brands for oil CHANGES. What about just oil REFILLS? You know, when the dipstick is low? I just had to do my first one and I picked the first 0w20 off the shelf that I could find in three stores (two gas stations followed by a NAPA Auto Parts), which was Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Advanced Fuel Economy. I'm nowhere near in need of my first oil change though.

Should I be filling up with this? Or should I be using something else?

I'll be following the maintenance minder 100%. Will also be going with what the dealer puts in it. Full confidence in letting Honda take car of their engine.
Your a fool if you think sabatoging your car in the long run isn’t beneficial to the company. Because then you’ll have to buy a new car sooner.

That post is almost 3 years old. Regardless, the evidence suggests Honda's schedule and synthetic blend are just fine for a stock powertrain. You're probably just splitting hairs on anything under 100K.

You can technically use anything you want as long as it's the same weight with the API seal. If you opt to use your own brand of oil, keep the leftover handy in case you choose to add a small amount. Though these engines haven't shown to consume excessive oil in their early years.

Sorry haha I did a Google search and this thread came up. I assumed it was an ongoing progressive thread. I read a few pages before realizing we're all just talking about oil changes. It's hard to find the answer to the latter without typing about it.

Great, thanks!

I'm actually a little concerned because my dipstick showed a reading below the bottom line. I have only had the car for 767 miles, filling up twice at 1/2 tank and then just this past time when it was down to 1/4 tank. I did not expect the car to need oil so early on, but then again I don't know what the dealer fills up at when I purchase it or how long it takes to go down. In my previous car I could go 4-5 full tanks before filling up, but it was 10w-30 also so maybe that changes things.

I just hope I haven't been ruining something on my brand new vehicle. Thankfully I haven't been running it hard and temperatures haven't been extreme on either side of the thermostat, but all the same it didn't let me feel very settled.

If this is a new car and you've used over a quart of oil in under a 1,000 miles, suggest contacting the dealership to have them investigate the cause. Civics seldom use a quart of oil between changes (7-10 k-miles).
