AEM intake for the type r coming??????

jinderC

It's really annoying to see posts about people shit talking Parts Manufacturers on their designs.
Especially after all the time and research and engineering is put into the product, to have some dipshit with tubing and a pod filter claim it does the same thing for less the money.

Dude.... relax eh?
He isn’t a “Dipshit” - he actually is contributes a lot here. Unlike your posts..... lol

I think that looks a tad better than injen...but I'm still on the fence about getting HKS. the afe I had was barely noticeable in sound difference...imo

I think the price is a bit much on that aem... I know crazy for me to say that when considering HKS.

Team that aem with prl intake hose and it would definitely be noticeable louder than afe intake.

Also it looks basically situated the same as HKS. hopefully the temps are too much different from stock to that aem. I do like how they attempt to block of the heat with that shield

I can appreciate your perspective but it does NOT take an engineer to know that air does not like to turn corners and for a turbo more > less. Sometimes the simpler view is better and certainly is more creative and costs less, both of which are great. In my experience of playing with cars, I was always more proud to share something I created instead of having followed the path most traveled by.

k&n purchased aem a few years ago
Ah okay.

I have to admit. This intake looks way better than I expected. I dont think the temps will be that bad...hoping that shield coupled with the factory air channeling will keep it dow or at least get the temps back down after starting to drive from sitting a while.

I'm betting it'll be perhaps the loudest of all intakes

I couldn't help it...I bought it. I put it on and it is super loud, just like I wanted.

I so far like it more than the aFe I had. Temps seem to be the same imo as the aFe was.

Temp wise, doesn't seem bad, I can take some datalogs if anyone really wants them.

But for reference, it was 36 degrees out today. Intercooler temps were 55degrees, while the intake temps were 75 while cruising at 40mph.

Once I got on it and was on the highway, intake temps dropped to 55 degrees.

When I come to a stop, the temps get up to the 80's during the morning and 100 in the afternoon (when it's about 47 degrees outside). But once I start driving the temps drop quickly.

The car drives perfect, not issues throughout the rpm band, no hesitations, etc.

Only complaint...the pic shows that AEM plate...it didn't come with one, but has two holes that are obviously there for them to use for putting that plate on...oh well. Maybe I'll hit up AEM about it.

Oh, it also came with a dyno sheet showing an actual dyno of a Civic Type R they used. They showed the day and how many miles were on the CTR...showing 17whp and 13lbs tq gained. Thought that was interesting. I always see claims of gains, but never an actual dyno for proof.

My previous mishi intake was 12 degrees above ambient cruising on the highway. I now have the oem box and its between 8-12 degrees above ambient. Your cruising numbers seems high. I wont even comment on the dyno chart lol. Anways the temps that really matters are the one post intercooler. If you have a aftermarket intercooler your temps should be good to go.

I thought i was a very impatient person. There's always someone above you i guess haha.

AEM is louder because its not fully boxed. Probably sounds close to how the injen is.
Just have to choose one or the other really. To get a good performing intake, it has to be boxed which kills the sound part. Hard to get the best of both.
