Just want to get a idea what everyone is using to lube our lightly beefed up Si turbo engines. I am still in the break in period and from what I read there is or there is no such thing as Honda special break-in oil. Also did not get a answer whether its fully synthetic. I would believe, so but who knows. I plan to use 0w20 amsoil for mine. I may plan on waiting for the service light and then change my oil or do it at 3000 or 4000 miles.

You are going to get a wide range of opinions, but Honda says this engine was designed for 0W20 and in order to keep your warranty they told me I had to stick with 0W20. I can tell you that both my Toyotas that have been driven very hard in all types of conditions and have over 100K on them both use 0W20 and their engines are in perfect condition. I drive my Si very hard and have had no issues with 0W20. Also I would stick with your service minder, there is no need to change your oil at 3 or 4K unless you are running it hard on the track. Both my Toyotas have a 10K change interval, and again I have never had any type of mechanical issues in over 12 years

Here's a place to start:

https://www.civicx.com/threads/using-0w30-oil-in-the-2017-2018-civic-si-bad-news.29920/

Lots of threads on the subject.

yep went through that thread thanks...i am asking what oil people are using and maybe getting an answer about the break in oil/ period, but thanks

Yep again so what’s the problem. I wanted to know what everyone one running. Get an idea what members are running and read their feedback.

Amsoil is probably going to be an overkill unless 1) you plan to do extended OCIs, or 2) plan to mod the powertrain.

Switching out the factory fill before 15% only extends the break-in process unnecessarily.

It's not going to hurt anything except the wallet.
Still Amsoil is great oil. I lease, so if i do decide on staying with the car i want to run the best oil. It’s how i been for all my cars.

I am going to use 0w20. I also decided Amsoil. Maybe overkill, but that’s just me. I drive mine pretty hard as well and i want the best.
Thanks man

OEM, Penzoil, Quaker State, Mobil 1, Castrol, Amsoil, Royal Purple, Shell.. any name brand oil will be fine. Check the manual for recommended viscosity.. then check out the million threads about "oil" and "baby my car" and "keep it for ever" and then default like most, to follow at best the suggested MM intervals and trade in the lease for the latest shiny car that catches your eye ;)

Enjoy your Si.. They are a lot of fun!

I understand the manual i just like reading why people use what they use. And yes this is a lease and I am more in the give it back and get a new one when the lease is up, but for now I will use Amsoil just because i am a Gemini and we are known to be indecisive lol. Even reading about what happens after doing a tune with the clutch giving has me not going this route anytime soon.

Whatever oil the Honda techs put in. Hopefully, it is the correct one.
